ya know, i REALLY though about quoting chris and continuing this little debate here, but for the sake of his stupid thread, and so the mods have a little less work to do, im going to take it to PMs. if anyone wants to read it, by all means let me know. ive got nothing to hide. i just felt id help the mods a little for once xD
but, so im not TOTALLY off topic, and chris requests we try to stay on topic, heres my opinion on the x ray attack.
personally, i feel the x ray attack is kind of humorous. the mortal kombat characters can pull off some brutal attacks, and this just lets you know how brutal they can be. one could say this makes it more realistic, but honestly id say it doesnt. its still a video game, and unless youre a complete fucking idiot who was raised wrong, you will just be like "oh wow, that was cool" at first and then later on "meh, whatev" about it, because you know its just a game. if a kid gets desensitized, oh fucking well. thats the parents fault and nobody elses. honestly i kinda feel like eventually thatll get old anyways, after seeing every characters x ray attack over and over. im not quite sure yet if im going to get the game, as i have a few things i need to buy before i go getting more games n stuff, but it does look interesting and i do enjoy fighting games. this will just be one of the features in the game that make it unique and brutal, like mortal kombat is known for being.

Taco, honestly, that's all I was asking is what people think..I don't like to be called stupid or anything when all I did was ask a question to see what others thought.

It looks like the Jerry Springer show in here mixed with a damn essay class, every response is like 8 paragraphs long that I don't care to read it's Mortal Kombat, I mean come on, it honestly probably won't even sell that well, Midway didn't go out of business in the first place because they were raking in the dough after all...

Its a term for someone who explains their position on things, even when it isn't necessary.

Haha what would it matter if I was? You can be quite long-winded with your posts at times, you've definately had your soap box moments, but in this case I wasn't talking about you. You can holster your guns Sheriff...., thanks for ruining my hip definition of soap box Melissa, don't you have some JRPG's to play or something.

Actually, the definition of getting on a soapbox is speaking or writing about something you have strong feelings about.

I was at gamestop this afternoon behind a kid around my son's age (8) trying to buy dead space 2. The girl wouldn't sell it to him because he's under 18, so he came back with his mom. His mom said she was there to buy it for him, and the girl was like "I just need to inform you that this game is rating M for mature for (she listed off everything in the rating, but I don't remember it all) and isn't meant for children his age." And the mom said "well, he wants it, and it's his birthday money, so if he thinks he can handle it that's fine!"

It ultimately comes down to parents and no one else to know what their kids are watching and playing these days. It's lazy parents that buy whatever their kids shove in their faces and don't think twice about what it is, then they complain when the kid does something violent. That's the real problem, not the violence in games it's the ignorance/laziness of parents.
