I was on IGN.com's site and saw a video on Mortal Kombat's new "X-Ray Attack." In my opinion it looks cool but I feel it's too much. Here's the comment I left on their site. Tell me what do u think.

Y'Know, I've been playing video games before most of you were born..I think now video games have gotten a little out of hand with the graphic violence. I love the early Mortal Kombats. I remember when I 1st seen a character's heart pulled from his body or when a character's head with spine attatched pulled out..I thought, "Man! That was cool!" Now you've guys taken this violence to the next level. Honestly, I think it's too much. This type of graphic representation of violence is too much. Kid's are being desensitized (hope I spelled that correctly) by these types of games. It's not enough nowadays to simply defeat your opponent by knocking him/her out and blood spurt from body parts, Now you have "X-Ray Attack" which shows damage done to internal organs. Looks very cool but is this really neccessary? You people have to remember that children see and play these games (even though you have the "Mature" ratings) and constant exposure to this type of violence isn't good for kids. I can go on forever but I'll cut it short. Make a good fighting game but calm down with the extreme and gory violence. We don't need kids thinking this is a normal part of life.

I love video games but sometimes I think companies go too far. I'm not downing the game but I have strong feelings in regards to how graphically violent our games are becoming.

I can see where you are going.... but I watched one of these trailers, and saw the X-Ray attack and it wasnt that bad compared to all the other stuff thats out there. I respect your opinion on this. Im not trying to offend you, but In my opinion I think you are being a bit soft and missing a bigger picture as to why this kinda stuff fucks kids up.

The people who make these games, this is their art. You cant just limit their creativity and what they want to put in THEIR game. Situations like this are really really really easy to handle... If you dont like it, dont play it. If you dont want your kids to see it, then dont let them play it. (I dont see why people find this hard to do :( )

If a kid gets mentally raped because of game, its not the games fault, its the parents fault. The game was intended for a Mature audience but they let it slip into the hands of a immature child. You just gotta teach kids the right way. I've been playing super graphically violent games like Mortal Kombat since I was about six years old. But I was always taught right. I cant really say If I was desensitized or not, but I sure as hell reacted a lot differently watching someone get shot in real life, and seeing a mangled body, then I did in a video game.

I completely agree, my son is now only two but I can just imagine what he would think if he could play this kind of stuff. When I was a kid and heard people complain about the games on SEGA and Super Nintendo I thought they were crazy, but now I can understand why so many parents complain about the games nowadays. Dont get me wrong I still enjoy games today but I find myself playing hella early in the morning or really late at night just so my son dosen't sit there and watch me.

So... this is complaint worthy, yet smashing your fist through someone's chest and ripping their heart out is totally acceptable and cool? Someone obviously doesn't watch enough 1000 Ways to Die on Spike TV.

Violent video games are nothing new, and they won't go away because a few parents complain. We've survived Manhunt. We've survived Grand Theft Auto. We've survived God of War, Condemned 2, and every other Mortal Kombat game to date. I'm pretty sure we'll survive an X-ray attack.

Yeah, after seeing the video personally I believe that it just looks like abit more brutal than Blitz: The League 2.

Yeah, I tend to watch 1000 ways to die every once and a while and the content in it is very similar to the x-ray moves tbh.

im sorry chris but i find the complaint rather stupid and pointless. but, ill explain why

if you are really THAT offended by this thing that happens in the game, dont play it. there was no reason to comment if you were so offended by it. if anything, youd ignore the game and things about it because that offended you so much.

you make the point about immature kids playing the game. thats not the mortal kombat creators fault. they shouldnt have to take out something in their game, which btw is KNOWN for being excessively gory/violent, because it might "desensitize" some stupid little kid. thats the parents fault, no exceptions. the parent should know what their kid can and can not handle. if they want their kid to play the game and see this "x ray attack" happen, and become desensitized, thats not the game makers fault. its the parents fault for being a fucking idiot and not watching what their kid does and teaching them right from wrong.

also, im w/ mikachu. you complain because you might see, idk, someones ribs being snapped and a lung punctured or something, but yet i can rip his heart out, or tear his cranium/spinal cord out of his body, and THATS ok? honestly i would be more offended by seeing a guy get his spinal cord ripped out. personally im not offended by either but if i was, that would offend me more.

besides all this, violent video games will always be around. its the inevitable. grand theft auto, god of war, gears of war, etc etc...hell, even skate 2 (and maybe 3 idk) had a bit of gore (or well, something similar to this) when you bailed theyd tell you what bones you had broken, and even give you challenging for fucking yourself up in special ways! you cant honestly complain about something like this and hope to get something done about it. or really hope to have any sort of impact. especially when its a game like this. mortal kombats fame and legacy came partially from being so fun and gory!

please, answer this honestly: what do you hope to try and accomplish by complaining about this? anything? if you arent trying to accomplish anything, whats the point of complaining?
