dibs = pizza party. i realize nobody would be interested in my personal shit, that's why when i get what's owed i want to share the good fortune. still a couple weeks out at least, but it's moving in the right direction.
ETA on this pizza party?
I'm sending a doc to my attorney right now (we've spent the last few days going over all the payroll and expenses, which the investor hadn't ever let me look at, hence the lawsuit)
I'm all for speed, and asked if he could send the demand today (friday), but it's happening monday. His words were basically "he'll give him 10 business days to reply, then he'll balk, then (the higher number we'll originally ask for, will be lowered, on the contingency that the American High School rights go back to me, and he can go fuck himself when I do a sequel after this horror movie-- he'll balk again, then settle. Probably take a month or so. Like the 5 steps of grief:
Denial
Anger
Bargaining
Depression
Acceptance
And I'll be there every step of the way, buddy!
You know how much I made on the movie? $0. My contract was all on backend. (because I'm an idiot, but 25% sounded like a good deal). So after making $1M+ and he claims "we still haven't made money". Uhhhhh... well your receipts say around $200,000. Oh, not for the car you bought, or the house you bought in texas. or paying your girlfriends half your age. or your $750 massase. yeah, the "actual" costs of production. Most times when this shit happens, the investor laughs all the way to the bank. Not here.
If any of that makes sense, the lesson is: stick up for yourself.
