It's still Back to The Future. Since Michael J Fox is acting again they should greenlight that supposed Back to The Future IV script using Marty's son, involve Michael, Doc, and Elizabeth Shue. Hell, they could get Tom Wilson again as Biff. Since it's with his son- the plot could be they all GO BACK to 1985 to save the world, and you'd have a lot of Father / Son quips. There's a lot of '80s nostalgia now, and none of the cast would require big salaries, either.

The basic idea of Indy 4 could have worked, it's all in the execution. I agree that it's better to make something new, than mine old properties. Same with videogames. But when the people on board want to make it (like Harrison Ford wanting an Indy 5 script written before he signed onto Star Wars VII), by and large you should let them, if the heart is there. Pretty much everyone can agree that the problems with Indy 4 and the Star Wars prequels, were that the filmmakers didn't have the same passion they had decades ago. The script is the starting block- a good story- but the passion goes a long way in the execution.
I personally don't know anyone from the Back to the Future cast, except for Doc's wife Clara (Mary Steenburgen), and for what it's worth, she'd sign on again. So I'm thinking based where the others are in their careers, you could easily get most if not all the main players back again. If the budget was kept relatively tight, with a good story and a hungry proven director, it could have a lot of heart.
Case in point: Rocky V sucked. Directed by the same guy that did the 1st one. But Rocky Balboa had a much smaller budget, and was a love letter to what made the series great.

Star wars prequels sucked because george lucas needs an editor and he refused to get one. The dialogue was awful, that said I still enjoyed them but damn those movies could of been so much better.
