Thinking about picking up a few things in the XBL Cyber Monday sale
Dark Souls
The Witcher 2
Battleblock Theater
Anybody have any thoughts/opinions on those 3? I know Dark Souls is pretty rough but for $5 I may try it out.

Witcher 2 is definitely worth every penny. I only got 1/4 through Dark Souls. I agree, it's good to try just to say you played it. I personally wasn't a fan of the difficulty, but if I was younger I would've probably played all the way through it. Just too many games out now to hunker down and burn through it. Although I may go back to it at some point. Witcher 2 is the best games of the last generation.

There needs to be more retro game stores. Planning to head over to my local one (gamedude) tomorrow, but it's a bit pricey. Anyone like their local retro store?
where is that at?
Gamedude is:
www.gamedude.com
They have their pricing lists, by system. The few other stores I've seen in SoCal just have a website, but no on-line prices-- so iffy to drive 20-30 miles and not know what they charge. At least with gamedude I have a general idea. I'm going in for some Sega Saturn games. Slightly peeved that I used to own most of the RPGs (Shining Force III, Shining the Holy Ark, Albert Odyssey, Shining Wisdom, etc) and now they all go for $100+ apiece. I think I sold them back in college. I needed the money at the time, but selling games always bites me later.

Most of the time I like to dive blind in to a game and log many hours before reading stuff on the internet, but Dark Souls is one of those games where I think reading up on it before playing will help your enjoyment a lot. It is unforgiving but once you have some idea of how to use your character type and how the monsters behave it opens up a lot.
I agree 100% with SeanPC about Witcher 2, it is one of the best games of the generation. A fantastic action-RPG with great writing, interesting characters, and a world that is fun to explore.
I played the trial of Battleblock and it just wasn't my thing.

Yeah I was there today and ended up only getting Myst on Saturn for $9. The one good thing about this place, is that they only accept games with complete boxes and manuals (for MOST systems), and they have a 30 day guarantee in case something doesn't work. They also sell import games. I'll be checking eBAY for better deals, but the store itself is worth checking out, & it's sorta in a warehouse with ample parking.

$140 from gamestop.com for a 20g xbox 360 that comes with a controller and 6 games. i live at college and have zero access to my box at home or games or anything. think this is a worthwhile deal? its also free shipping and i figure if in a few years when i'm actually ready to upgrade to the xbone i can sell the 360 so some poor chump at school and get all if not most of my money back
