where did you get the idea it is a movie? sure it has cutscenes, but do not say it is a movie. Go play Metal Gear Solid 4 on PS3 and come back and tell me this game is a movie, as it is far from.
I am now on the last chapter of the game on Hard, and needless to say, the checkpoints suck, and do not pop as often as you would like in later chapters. So be smart about how you play with cover, and watch out for those One shot kills on your self, as they suck!

Yeah, Just went through Mafia 2 and finished out the game just now on Hard Difficulty. All of my chapters show the Gold emblem and I have no achievements for beating the game.

to fix the issue, i started a new game on hard, and finished the first chapter, and then both of my difficulty achieves popped. i was getting ready for another long haul, but thankfully they popped!

Can't really give too many more impressions yet, started it up this morning but only played a few minutes into chapter 2. Cutscenes are pretty nice so far but the shooting mechanic still takes some getting used to much like in the demo. The reticule just kind of goes everywhere when you aim and is kind of touchy and the controls take some gettin used to. I'll give a more thoughtful impression when I actually get some time to play it a bit more.
