I have a Hp Pavilion notebook, it is my best computer I ever had. One thing I would say to make sure to make sure it has is windows 7, I dont know how i got by without it.

I can't speak for their laptops but I've been using Dell desktops for a long time now as have a couple friends, they perform well enough and can survive some rough stuff. I have heard both good and bad things about Inspirons. I think overheating was a problem for awhile.

I have a Dell Latitude D600 that I got off of Ebay about 6 months ago for $25 and it works like a charm. I think most Dell Laptops are pretty good.

I used to have Vista Home Premium (by default) then I always wanted to do something with my second Hard drive so I installed Windows Vista Ultimate (torrented of course) Then I upgraded that to 7 and about 5 minutes later went back to normal Vista and Downloaded XP and Deleted 7....Wow lol
BTW Macs Suck Absolutely pointless when you can get a just as good pc for like 400$ lol
