Every HP I've owned (about 8 laptops) shit out on me in less than 2 months. They do, however, have excellent customer service. Every time my old laptops shit out on me I'd have a replacement in about 2-3 days. Their longevity is trash, don't expect much from an HP except a lot of replacement/replacement parts.

The problems with hp is that their motherboards have a huge tendency to burn out. Dells are pretty solid machines. Replacement parts for dells are sometimes hard to come by. You definitely want to get a good processor and high ram. Memory is nice, but if you don't need to go much higher than 250gb for school. You can always get an external hard drive down the road if you need more.

You might as well fork out for a computer that will last

Meh I've never had problems with HP (knock on wood) and I only plan on using it for school work and such so what I got and paid for looks pretty good to me, its got a 2 year warranty so if it does happen to die on me at the end of its life cycle I'll probably end up buying a Mac. Just didn't wanna spend over a grand on somethin like that right now.

yeah dude I know exactly what you mean...My Macbook set me back around....uuuuum..$1,000 I think, but its been going strong for about a year now...I got it last year around tax season. I might buy another laptop, one of those cheap walmart PC's....but as far as my next extreme laptop or Desktop purchase, that will be going to Apple

I bet that battery only lasts like 2 hours max, get ready to be carrying around a cord! Otherwise, the specs look good.

Battery says an estimate of 5 hours! So we'll see how that goes...my longest class day is only like 4 hours so I should be fine
