Alright guys.. I'm a tad bit frustrated.. (I searched but couldn't find any other threads about this)

So right now I am working on Forza Horizon. I had gotten 1000g on the game, and now i am focusing solely on the dlc achievements. I purchased both sets (1000 club and the rally pack).. I am almost done with the 1000 club cheevos, only to discover that now I have to purchase MORE extras on top of the DLC (new cars) just to be able to get the last few achievements.. It frustrates me pretty bad that I am going to have to drop another 10 bucks or so to get those new cars before finishing the last few achievements will even be possible...

Does this bother anyone else? And are there any other games that you have that have has a similar situation?

Well the 1000 club was a "free" expansion pack so you could consider your 800 points going towards that.

That being said, I'm still bothered by it. The only way they can get away with it is because the DLC pack was free. Otherwise achievements are not supposed to be tied to spending extra money... That was why they took Monster Island off the WP marketplace since it had an achievement for spending like $3 in the store. They did fix that and add the game back to the marketplace....

I'm not a huge fan of DLC in general. I think it's absolutely fantastic to allow a developer to add more content to a game that was received well, but I'm usually not too terribly impressed with a lot of DLC and frankly I feel that other developers could have just as easily put the DLC on the retail disc/download and some simply do it for extra money (CoD anyone?)

Well I guess I can understand it that way... I don't remember the 1000 club dlc being free.. But that's just my bad memory.

But as far as COD goes.. I did buy the season pass in the beginning, but I find it kind of foolish for those that purchase the non-necessary extras (camos, weapons slots, etc..) and that concept goes for any game with non-essential dlc, not just for COD.

IMO I don't believe that achievements should be added to a game when new DLC comes out. I have several games that I got 100% on, just to find I have more to do once the dlc came out.

I don't like having to pay for anything.

Ever.

Plus, most dlc these days feels like it was either thrown together fast or held back from the disk release. Shivering Isles may have been the last dlc that felt worth it... Maybe Dragonborn for Skyrim.

Well even as someone who obviously cares about achievements and completions. I understand that developers probably don't care if it ruins a "completion." The whole point of achievements is to reward us for doing something in the game. I feel that DLC without achievements is almost a waste since they could add them. Why not? Reward me for buying your DLC, right? Of course then I'm contradicting myself to an extent since I'm not too impressed with much DLC.

I have been screwed sooo many times out of completions due to DLC, but that isn't going to change. And although they will be 0 point achievements, it will be much worse on the XB1. People like myself will be able to complete much fewer games with these timed achievements and what not. So believe me, I feel you. However it's just something you have to learn to accept and deal with if you are going to care about completions and percentages.

I agree 100%.. Dragonborn was totally worth it, but most aren't even that good. Hell the 1000 club dlc for Forza that I'm playing now would have better off as part of the disk release.

Yea good point. maybe I should posted this under the "what grinds my gears" thread lol. I guess achievement hunting will be like any other hobby.. You are going to ate to spend some money in order to get anywhere...

Nah, nothing wrong with making a thread about it. I don't think there is one discussing this topic.

Also sorry if I seem to be trying to shut you down with this. I'm squarely in your corner on feeling that way. It's just something that I've come to grips with, and as a side note it's also why Forza Horizon is sitting unopened and unplayed on my shelf. That will only change if/when the DLC goes on sale and I have some MS points to purchase it when it does.

It's just one of those things of this is how gaming is at this point. We can call for mass boycotts of DLC, but there are always enough drones/sheep out there that will just buy it because it's a super cool map to play MP on, or because (insert fanboy statement here) and these people will not help the boycott. It simply won't work.

Still, nothing wrong with complaining about how it is!

No no you bring very good points to the table lol. I was just being facetious...

The good part about this game is that is is probably one of my favorites. I absolutely loved playing through the main story line, and really didn't have any issues at all (except the multiplayer was a little funky).. If you haven't played the game at all, I HIGHLY recommend it.. It is just the DLC that is a pain. And now that you mention it, I would imagine they will have the car packs on sale before too long.

To answer your other question, I know the one piece of DLC that ticked me off the most was and still is Dark Void.

DLC released after game comes out: no achievements.

Nearly 2 years after DLC is out - magically has achievements.

Already sold the game, don't remember how to play it. I may never regain that completion
