the fight where he actually starts using Doom, go to the nearest save station, buy 2-3 Cherub Crowns (accessory that raises Doom resistence) and put them all on your leader character. that should keep you safe long enough for you to win the fight.

Sweet thanks, I always get him down to 1/3 HP then end up dying. :/

keep all your weapons, don't sell anything if you're going for all the achievements. as to what weapons to use, what's your party?

I'm sick of this game.
I'm stuck on damn Barthandelus or whatever the heck his name is, and can't get passed it. i just put the game away and once in a while ill open it back up, try again, and fail.
maybe it gets better later on, i'm not sure. but for now i'm not even bothering. If anyone has some tips let me know, id love to enjoy the game again, the story was just getting good.

@Rusty - which Bart fight are you on? Be specific and we can help you. If it's the fight I'm thinking it is, you can just go a few pages back in this thread 
@Mo - Just use whichever weapon gives the best bonuses for the role. If the character is mainly a Ravager, boost their magic and/or chains. Also, I personally recommend not upgrading any weapons or items until end game, you won't really need them before hand and you can do it far more efficiently once you have easy access to money and all possible items.

lol yeah, if you're dying from Barthandalus's "Death" spell, then just go to the nearest save point, and buy Cherub Crowns and put them on your leader character. 2 should be enough and will protect your character from Death to finish the fight.

the first one..on the ship. i get past his 4 element attacks part, then he destroys me by the second time he casts that spell he has to charge for...

does he kill you right away? if he does, try leveling a bit in the area.
if not, then what you do is create a MED/COM/MED Paradigm. best party is Lightning, Fang, Hope. have Fang be the Commando and the other two be Medics in that Paradigm. whenever you see him about to use the attack (i think it was something laughter), switch to that Paradigm immediately and don't switch out until you're fully healed.

Fang, Vanille and Lightining. I guess I could swap my characters around every once in a while. Which characters does everyone else find really useful?

I used Sazh the entire game. He gets Haste way before any other Synergist, and this made him invaluable to me. I tooled him up as a Ravager and equipped him accordingly, and would start every fight with him in Synergist mode to Haste everyone.

i used what the strategy guide suggested: Lightning, Fang, Hope. default Paradigm was Diversity(?): RAV/COM/MED respectively.
in my Paradigm deck, i had:
Lightning/Fang/Hope:
RAV/COM/MED (all around balanced for an average battle)
RAV/COM/RAV (for all out attack, pre-stagger)
MED/SEN/MED (for emergency healing)
COM/COM/RAV (for all out attack, post-stagger)
that's all i can remember, i know i had another set that deals with status buffs/debuffs but i forgot the exact combo lol
