so i saw that this game will be on sale for 30 dollars at K-Mart this upcoming week. I've got a little interest in this game. i've never played a final fantasy game before. and i was wondering how easy it would be for a noob to play this game.

and as for FFXIII, i've been playing it on and off since i'm just side questing now. been working on backtracking to pick up missed items and grinding here and there. working on getting the growth egg, but the mark mission to get the egg won't open up?? :/ the strategy guide says the only requirement is to beat Barthandalus in ch11 which i obviously did...

I am actually disappointed with FFXIII. There isn't any 'leveling up' like the previous versions. I rented it, got to the 'open world' part of the game + had to return it. Finally bought the game + now I am not sure I should have bothered. I generally like RPG's, but this one is very different. There is no "character level X' and 'enemy level Y'.
FFXI was a bust. FFXII was great. Maybe FFXIII is a bust, too?

i just don't like how it's so hard to backtrack to places you've been to. and sometimes impossible depending on the place. makes sidequesting a bit irritating due to the lack of the FF staple of an "endgame airship" that allows you to travel anywhere.

sorry for the double post (check out the dates between the posts though), but i have to bump this thread back up with a few questions:
1) what's a good gil grinding spot or best way to obtain gil in general?
i spent a good 7-8 grinding at the Adamantoise in Levianthan Plaza and maxed out 3 2/3 roles for every character and managed to get my hands on 3 Trepazahedrons, which i'll do what the guide says and just use on Fang's Kain's Lance and dismantle it to multiply the Trepazahedron. i assume that i'll get enough CP by doing the C'ieth stone missions to max out the rest of the roles....
2) the guide says you need 6 Trepazahedrons to make one ultimate weapon for one character, yet i used ONE to upgrade Lightning's Flamberge into an Omega Weapon, what gives? i'm not complaining, but just curious...
3) what will help me get better ratings in the C'ieth stone battles? i remember there being a way, i just don't remember it lol. i've heard using lower level base weapons work, just need a clarification...

Page 220 of the LE Guide: "You need at least six Trapezohedrons to make just one ultimate weapon per character" maybe i'm reading that sentence the wrong way? lol
anywho, since you're only required to make one ultimate weapon per character for the Treasure Hunter achievement, all i would need are 6 Trapezohedrons, correct? just make the best overall one for each character.
as for gil, the Platinum Ingots that the Adamantoises drop just isn't cutting it for me, at 150,000 gil per sell, i can only buy so much with it along with the Credit Chips and Incentive Chips i get from the soldiers i fight to regain my TP. a single Ultracompact Reactor costs me 50,000 gil and 99 each of Sturdy Bone, Vibrant Ooze, and Barbed Tail costs a good 20,000.
and hmmmmm.......i think i may have wasted quit a bit of gil and time -__- i just realized that i leveled up EVERY ONE of Lightning's weapons AFTER i upgraded them to the second form, don't ask what i was thinking lmao

Did you already beat Missions 1-14?
Supposedly you don't need all of the first 14 ones completed, just certain ones, but I never found a correct list so I just did them all.

i figured it out and got it a while ago lol, but thanks anyways
lol.i'm at a part where my path to 1k is just grinding grinding and grinding. everything's been set up already, just need to put the time into it now heh. then there's the C'ieth stone missions that i need to 5 star but following Setsuna's advice, i should just get back to grinding for now and get all the 5 stars in one go...
