while it pisses me off, so many games are including "new codes" like Mass Effect 2, and BFBC2 that have access to online content you would have to pay for if you get it used.
it pisses you off. but its an evolving industry. Im more surprised it didnt happen sooner

Most games I play online I buy new. There is not stopping this from happening. More and more dev's are going to be doing this. Blame Gamestop. They've raped dev's long enough of their hard work and talent's.
Just buy the game new. Thats about all the bottom line says. Or you can pay 6 dollars less for a used new title and give up an additional 10 bucks. I think new would be cheaper. Just my thought though.

I've been reading your posts about this subject, and I while I can understand your support for the Game Developers and not wanting them to lose out, I don't understand why you are so gung ho about it?
BUY NEW! BUY NEW! BUY NEW!
That might be easy for you to say, but what about all of us who simply cannot afford to buy a new game?!? In today's economic climate it is a potentially hazardous decision in buying a new video game. Many games have been touted as perfect long in advance of their release, only to flop after launch day.
Instead of coming up with a proactive solution, say Applying intellectual property claims to games, forcing gamestop to give game devs a share of the profits, they came up with a punishing solution that, might not hurt people like YOU who can afford to buy every game brand new, it does hurt the MAJORITY of people, who cannot afford to do so, even if they WANT to.
and like many of us who want to play a game for just a short while, or just to try it, renting a game is a great solution, but the new online pass program hinders renter's abilities to fully judge a game and make the decision of whether or not they want to purchase it.
besides, most of this launch day dlc that most companies will be charging for is content cut from the game. Then they charge you to play content that is rightfully yours. and reports that are contrary to this fact should be taken with a grain of salt. considering that after all, while this may be fun and games for us, it is a BUSINESS for everyone else. besides, most game news/information sources are owned by a game publisher.
what I'm getting at is...
It's okay to want game devs to do succeed and to do well and it's another thing to want PUBLSIHERS to reap the profits. Which is exactly what you are all for. You think these devs are getting any of this money? they'll see maybe a fraction of what the publishers will receive.
I only buy one game before launch every year. NCAA College Football. I wait, read reviews, ask friends, watch you tube videos, play demos, so on and so forth. You can't say people get burnt by shitty games when there is so much info out on the market! only fools rush in... I think thats how the saying goes. Especially with this kind of market and this kind of economy. everyone should be getting every last ounce of info they can get. DON'T READ ON COLUMN IN YOUR FAV MAGAZINE AND BLOW 60 BUCKS ON A GAME!!
I haven't meant to be gung ho on buying new. I just don't understand how everyone is freaking out over 10 bucks. I understand thats alot of money with some people and the economy and such but come on. If 10 bucks is breaking your bank than maybe your in the wrong hobby section. This industry is built on big money projects. Everyone knows this and its not a secret. If your getting a game for 20 bucks cheaper than the new price save some money and buy the online ability. You don't have to pay this right when you buy the game. Try the game out and let your own judgement say whether its worth the extra 10 or not.
One last thing too. I'm not a rich person. I work 60+ hours a week doing concrete. I took offence to the capitol "YOU"s littered in that retort. I bust my ass off for everything I get. I merely smarter with my money than a majority of people. Thank you and Good night
