no they don't count because there whole basis is an online persistent world, it would be dumb if you could play that offline.
I'm talking like how with game like AC 2 you originally couldn't play offline on pc, sim city is online only, etc. games that shouldn't require constant online connection scrub.

no they don't count because there whole basis is an online persistent world, it would be dumb if you could play that offline.
I'm talking like how with game like AC 2 you originally couldn't play offline on pc, sim city is online only, etc. games that shouldn't require constant online connection scrub.
The whole basis of blockbusters like Borderlands/Dead Island/Left 4 Dead/Happy Wars is to play online. They offer up single player but it's definitely not their intended purpose. Who plays Left 4 Dead solo?
You can add most FPS with measly 6 hour single player campaigns to that distinction as well. Nobody in the right mind buys a CoD game if they don't have the internet. Armored Core V is almost completely unplayable offline for example.
On the flip side of things single player games offer up terrible online modes for no reason now days.
Long story short: Online console gaming can work...if done properly.

yeah but you have the option, there are people that have played those games solo. I've played l4d by myself before when none of my friends where online.
the "you can play online so who would play single player" argument doesn't work because there ARE people who prefer it single player or don't have fast enough Internet access, that's why they play consoles.
