Sony stopped releasing first party games a year to 2 years after the console was made and that was with the largest install base by far out of the 3 major console developers.
You're also intentionally leaving out how difficult it was to find consoles for wii/360/ps3 last gen in the first year whereas ps2 was widely available and a cheaper alternative.
Game cube and the original xbox had very little support after their successors cake out as well, with nintendo and Microsoft having focused efforts on their next consoles performing well.
As well as ignoring since the last consoles have come out the gaming industry has changed drastically. Phones are viable gaming options now, and technology is changing at an increasing rate. Older products are getting left on the way side at a quicker pace for consumers to pick up the next iteration.

It wasn't difficult to find any console besides the wii within a few months of launch, when they knew they'd have a shortage because they launched early. The wii was ridiculous for a couple of years, but 6 months after the 360 launched, I sauntered into the PX and got one from a giant stack of them. PS3s were even easier to find because they were plagued with issues after launch, and so expensive to begin with. Idk what it was like in NJ, but I picked up 2 360s in the first year and a half after launch with no trouble. Plus, within a year the rrod started occurring and people were trading their consoles back in- without issues of finding them. They weren't selling like hotcakes.
The ps2 was just discontinued last year, and games were still being made for it. Exclusives were stopped in 2010. The ps2 still outsold the 360 in japan in 2011. My whole point with the ps2 is that people thought it was still the future, and the 360 and ps3 wouldn't take off and etc etc etc, yet it did. The ps2 died off. And people who stuck with it to the end missed a ton of good games. And if we were talking about the ps3, I'd say there's a chance grenade could be right- the ps3 probably still has some good years and good games left.
But the Xbox had like- zero support after the 360 launched, which is why I am saying you're right about the 360 dying within a year. Look at what games it's getting- crummy ports of xb1 games, and cheap, rushed fan service games. I have a list of all planned upcoming 360 games, and there are only around 50 announced- and none of them have a street date later than fall of this year. Some of them are still "tbd" so they may possibly be next year, but more likely the 360 version will be scrapped or they will come out for xbox one. For the first time since I've been staff, it's not a list full of far in the future release dates that I can't wait for- honesty, I've only heard of like 10 of the games anyway lol.

The only games on the current generation that I plan on playing are GTA V which is already out, the walking dead, the wolf among us, maybe Tales of Borderlands pending reviews, and Persona 5, Tales of Xillia 2 and Zestiria which aren't even 360 titles.
The point is the most popular "AAA" games will not be made on previous Gen consoles.

I'm enjoying both currently. I still have a large backlog of 360 titles and have now started a backlog of X1 titles...lol I just never learn. I have moved my 360 out of the livingroom and hooked it up to my computer monitor and new PC. Now I have the best of three worlds and love my setups. Now all I need is a backlog of PC games and I'm all set!!!

I still think you can't base the future of the 360 on even older consoles. You have to extrapolate the life span because the 360 isn't a ps2, the technology still isn't out dated despite what you might think Snap.

Uh...The technology is very clearly out of date, the user base is not. That's why their are future games on the console. The technology is 9 years old and was already out of date when it launched back then.
And what else would you base theories on if not past generations in the same industry? You're making vague arguments that have no backing with information.

There's no doubt that the technology is out of date. Look at the high failure rate of the 360. The 360 can't handle running as high as it needs to run to get the graphics it has, let alone graphics to compete with next gen. It overheats and fries.
A computer from 9 years ago would be called outdated without question, and that's essentially what a console is. Updates don't change hardware.

Playing as Claptrap is a fucking blast. Athena is easily the most interesting character and overall the main protagonist in accordance to the plot. I feel the other playable characters including the upcoming DLC one are fodder and slightly irrelevant. The writing is not quite as snappy (Especially in Jacks case wtf) as BL2 but the setting is certainly unique. Graphically it's only slightly improved over BL2 and unless you compare them side to side you won't even notice the difference.
Unless you're a hardcore fan of loot and mayhem like me i'd get something else. Borderlands 2 is a superior game in a lot of ways and while this one is certainly a must play for Borderlands fans I don't see much value in buying it over it's extremely cheap predecessors for the casual FPS enthusiast.
