You were on your 360 last night

and? I still have a backlog of games and season pass dlc I need to beat. I simply don't want to play new release games on a 9 year old system anymore, the technology has shown it's age. There are tablets with higher specs then the 360.

I rarely go to beat games in my last gen backlog now despite a lack of current gen games. Just look at games like titanfall in the difference between 360 vs one, 360 can't hang anymore which is why it's disappointing it's not current gen as well.

360 is still a better console, I could give two shits about the X1s specs.

due to the fact it has 9 years worth of games out, the hardware itself is nothing compared to the xbox one.

you're comparing a console's library that's been out 5 months vs a console that's been out almost 9 years.

like no shit it's the better console right now.

Yeah well over that nine year span the console has updated several times so it's not as if the 360 hasn't changed at all over those years. They have several models of 360 and games aren't running off the same decade old engines.

What's your point? In the end it's still limited by the system specs it has. It can't run any of the updated engines for games, or if it does the versions are severely watered down compared to the current gen counterparts.

I'm not arguing that it wasn't a good system, because it was and had a ton of great games, but it's done. Companies are just trying to capitalize on its consumer base then push the envelope forward. Hence why you see this being 360/ps3 only, while the new batman game is current gen only.

You're completely missing the argument I'm making. I'm saying the technology inside it is done. Yeah you will still get madden, assassin's creed and call of duty, but not much else at this point. You are also comparing a system that over 9 years gained and lost a lot of functionality. Just look at how slow the dashboard and achievements take to load now. I've had it take upwards of 2 minutes after my console turns on just to look at the main xbox live dashboard.

The 360 and ps3 will only be relevant as long as the userbase is there, once it begins to die off as more people switch to current gen and pc, you will see a steep decline in the amount of games, and the quality of them. You already see companies like ubisoft having to make separate games due to the technology disparity between the consoles.

360 and the one launched at the same price. fyi

and what functionality are you referring too? Apps, games, what exactly? You're using vague terms to encompass your argument without clearly defining what they mean.

The 360 isn't going to remain relevant for as long as you think it will. It has about another year of quality releases, and then it will just essentially be the yearly iteration games released to hit sales quotas. Last gen went on far too long and made the system really show their age.

I just don't agree with how you have written off the 360 already as a dead console. Yeah I don't own an Xbox one and who knows, maybe I would think differently otherwise but personally I love my 360, and I don't plan to upgrade anytime soon.

Again, that's not what I'm saying. I clearly stated it has at least 1 more year of quality releases before it will begin to decline. I'm saying the technology is done. When more and more releases start coming out xbox one/ps4 this holiday you may rethink your stance on how long you wait before upgrading.

How can you possibly know how long it has? Your guesses are just that: guesses. You can speculate about the market and sales all you want but you just cannot know the life expectancy of the 360. It's endured for this long.

Your right and it has endured this long because there wasn't an alternative, but now there is. It's not just guesses I'm basing it off how previous generations have gone once their successor was released, and with Sony and Microsoft clearly focusing their attentions and efforts on the current gen, it's a plausible conclusion to make.

Well we're gonna have to agree to disagree until such time as one of us can be proven wrong, lol. Honestly it's no secret that the one is the future of Xbox but I also think the 360 will continue to be a viable gaming console in the coming years. That's just my prediction.

Think about it like this, the ps2 was the largest gaming console of its generation right? The last big release (arguable) was god of war 2, or persona 4, in 2007 and 2008 respectively. 6 months after ps3 had come out and a year after that with persona 4. In the 360's lifespan, that would of been 2012 and 2013 time wise. Yes the ps2 continued to have games released for it after those, but where any of them fresh and new original games, or was the market clearly shifting towards the ps3/360/wii? It only stands to reason that because the previous generation continued on for so long, developers are more eager to develop with superior technology instead of the limitations that the older consoles bring.

Flip phones were still popular and the iphone hadn't been released when both the 360 and ps3 launched.

that's a long time ago.

*edit* I'm quoting grenade but talking to both y'all- with the first paragraph @ snapple. Because he's wrongish.

But the ps2 continued to outsell the 360 and ps3 for years after they released- up to the point that Sony stopped releasing ps2 games. And people had this exact same argument. When the 360 released it was crap and people loved their familiar consoles.

The point is, you can't compare the beginning of a console to one at the end of it's cycle. And that's where the 360 is. It isn't "relevant" anymore, it's getting dual releases with the one for some games, and the only exclusives are going to be blatant cash grabs where they don't want to take the time and spend the money to change the code at all or program the game for next gen, like this "pre-sequel." It's like a windows phone 7- sure you can keep playing it, but the pool of games will dry up.

The xbox 360 will be done by 2015. Game developers know that, and that's why most of the games aren't being released for full price anymore. Hell, deepsilver called it a dying console a year ago before the one was even announced.

And the one pisses me off a shit ton... But I can see the writing on the wall.
