I ended up coming home with the game and some mt.dew game fuel. This is when I realized, that I meant business. I will say that I played the game from 4:30 am until about 7-7:30pm tonight. I have beaten the game on normal and started on hard. I completed 730 of the 1000 gamer score. So you\'re probably wondering, is it worth it?
Well there are many things that come into play when you think about this game. Most notably for me, its the fact that it does NOT have multiplayer and the very intriguing storyline. First and foremost, this game does not need multiplayer, period. The story is good, and the theme that comes into play with it is great. The whole underwater city mixed with the 50\'s theme with a touch of what the future would be to people in that time is just great. There are some interesting twists in the plot that I will not reveal.
From the minute you start the game up, you can just see the time and effort that is oozing out of this title. Lets talk about the graphics. My god people. I have seen numerous arguments on xbox.com comparing this to gears with best graphics. Let me say this. This IS the best looking game on the 360, hands down. Also, theres a feature in the options called \"unlock framerate\". What this does it turns off some of the lighting and bumps some of the texturing down and lets it run way smoother. I chose to leave it off.
The sound is just mindblowing. If you have home theater on your tv, this game will push it to the fullest. I remember being in a situation where I had picked a fight with a big daddy. I had ran out of ammo, so I hid under a bridge. While he was looking for me, he was DIRECTLY above where i was below the bridge. This was an alltime high for me. The loud thumps, and debris coming down from his hard hulking steps, it really brought the tension that I was fighting for my life against this mammoth of a monster.
I cannot stress how tense the battles are in the game, and that has a lot to do with the number of ways you can do away with the evil doers. You can be the type of guy who goes ball to the wall with guns blazing, or you can be smart and use plasmids to your advantage, and hey, why not both? Thats what is so great about this game, no two players will ever, and I mean ever play this game the same way.
So I\'ll answer the question to why this game does not need multiplayer. Not just for the reasons above, but the game has really high re playability. The game has numerous tonics and plasmids that you can use, and you cant obviously use them all at once. With that being said, you can STILL customize your guns, ammo, and you can even invent new kinds of ammo and other items. I beat the game in 15 hours and can say I could honestly play through it at least another 2-3 times to get the full use of the plasmids and whatnot. I can honestly say that I am proud of 2k for this astonishing game that has really made me think twice and say, \"How in the HECK can they make the AI that damn smart?!\"
By the way, the demo is quite different from the welcome to rapture level that is in the actual game. I wont say how, but trust me, it looks the same, but it is different.
If you\'re considering it, and you have money, like nike says, just do it.
