This is on my watch list. I love Jason Bateman
It was a really good movie.
Daylight (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Rob Cohen is more than capable of directing an entertaining popcorn flick, and though he made a great choice in picking Stallone as his lead, there’s nothing here you haven’t seen before. It plays out like a typical disaster/survival film with a varied group of survivors. Overall, it feels a lot like Poseidon crashed into a tunnel, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it’s mostly ho hum. In summation: a decent disaster film with a fair performance from Stallone. As an aside that’s in no way related to my scoring, Viggo Mortensen has a role in this as a millionaire playboy who’s unbelievably big headed and egotistical; it’s such a clash with everything I’ve ever seen him in.
5.5/10
The Forbidden Kingdom (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I’m not the biggest kung fu film, but when this was $5 on Amazon, I decided to give it a go. There’s plenty of action, and having Jackie Chan and Jet Li opposite one another is always welcome, but there wasn’t a lot here you haven’t seen before. It does have a strong sense of scale and it’s for the most part pretty lighthearted, but unless you’re a big fan of this particular genre, I’d pass on it. In summation: a strong cast and plenty of action make this watchable, but it’s overcome by countless clichés.
4/10
The Running Man (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I’ve seen bits and pieces of this on TV, but never the whole thing in one sitting. I was hoping for more because I think it’s a pretty original concept, but the corniness is just a little too much for me in this one. If you like your Arnold movies with plenty of one liner, you’ll like this, but unfortunately this dystopian flick fell a little flat for me. Also, the novel’s ending is far superior to the film’s ending. In summation: a watchable action flick with some cheesy Arnold one liners, but not one I’m likely to revisit.
4/10
L.A. Confidential (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Probably the best first time viewing I’ve had in several months. From top to bottom, this is an excellent movie, but I’d say the acting is what it sells it so well. Pearce, Crowe, and Spacey are all great, and are all in their own way playing excellent characters. The story is well written, the dialogue is good, and the direction is solid too. If you’re into the noire look and feel in movies, this is about as good as it gets in that regard. Do yourself a favor and see this now if you haven’t already. In summation: one of the better dramas I’ve seen in recent memory, with some truly great acting and a great story/screenplay.
8.5/10
Insidious (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – James Wan has been knocking it out of the park lately with this and The Conjuring, though I’d say this is slightly inferior to it. This isn’t quite as grounded as The Conjuring, but is realistic enough to not stretch into absurdity like a lot of ghost/paranormal films. I think a feature that makes Insidious and The Conjuring strong is the likeable characters portrayed by good actors. Byrne and Wilson are both good, and you really feel for the family as they get deeper and deeper into the trials they’re faced with. In summation: the kind of horror movie most should aspire to; features good acting and plenty of jumps. Also holds up surprisingly well with a second viewing; most horrors typically don’t for me.
7/10
Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Theater, 1st viewing) – I enjoyed its predecessor, but this improves on the original in every way. This, along with the other Phase II films, is noticeably darker and more violent. As a character, his movies are generally grounded slightly more in reality, and this is more so than the first film. Fans of action thrillers will find a lot to love here, as this is a little more than just your average comic book movie. Good additions to the cast make it improvement as well. My only major complaint is with the villain, who I think could have been characterized a little better. The only area that the DC films outshine Marvel is with how well they develop their villains. Though she’s hot, I’m almost totally ambivalent to Black Widow, I just don’t see what she brings to the table, and Hawkeye for that matter. In summation: another solid post-Avengers standalone film for the MCU. Fans of Marvel will continue to worship the superb craftsmanship and this film also has the potential to rope in some converts who think every comic book movie is absurd and totally fictitious.
7.5/10
Chronicles of Riddick (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – I thought Pitch Black was a strong sci-fi action film, and though they took this in a different direction, it hits just as much as it misses. They tried developing a much richer world here than the barebones approach in the first and for the most part it’s successful. It’s a little too ambitious, as you’re bombarded with all sorts of new material, but there’s just enough explanation for understanding, though more could have been better. I think all of his films, Vin nails this character the best of any he’s done. In summation: a solid sci-fi film with plenty of action and thrills. Doesn’t improve on the Riddick cannon, but doesn’t detract enough to hurt the direction of the series.

I second this. It was amazing. Marvel's movies are always good (except for the Fantastic Four movies and Elektra).
Flight - 7.5/10 - Denzel Washington's acting was amazing as always. The shots of the plane going down (which isn't really a spoiler, considering the rest of the movie focuses on the aftermath) were pretty well shot. The ending wasn't bad in my opinion, but something about it just felt unsatisfying in a way.
Into the Wild - 10/10 - This movie tells the true story of Chris McCandless, a 22 year old college graduate who travels around the country in search of self truth. He meets people along the way, and eventually ends up in the highlight of his journey, Alaska. The acting was absolutely incredible, and the ending had me damn near tears Truly a masterpiece.

Absolutely not a 10/10. I found it very generic and not out of the ordinary for Marvel. Nothing exceptional about this movie imo. 6.5/10 for Scarlet Johansson
Grudge Match 7/10 (i really enjoyed this flick it has a lot of lol's)

One of my all time faves. I still have the VHS tape for this along with a bunch of others collecting dust inside one of our end tables. Haven't had a working VCR in years but I don't know when/if I'll ever get rid of them.
Better than I thought it would be. A little too story-heavy to me, but the big fight scene towards the end had me lollerskating.
