Solid action movie lots of titties
I'd give it about the same rating.
Filth- 7/10, started off really funny and then went down a weird and twisted path but James McAvoy played his role pretty damn well.

Out of Time (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I think movie in and movie out, Denzel is my favorite actor. He has that ability to elevate pretty much anything he’s in to at least decent; I challenge you to name a film that’s bad where he has a significant amount of screen time. Sure, some are better than others, and though Out of Time isn’t one of the top-tier ones, it’s still a solid thriller. It has a few too many plot twists for its own good, but fans of some light, easy to digest thrills will find plenty to warrant a viewing here. In summation: a decent Denzel vehicle; a movie that relies more on old-school thrills than a whole bunch of violence to entertain.
6.5/10
Air America (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – The American involvement in Laos during the Vietnam War seems kind of like an obscure concept to adapt into a movie, but where there’s a will, there’s a way. It never takes itself too seriously, and features some decent performances from Mel Gibson and Downey Jr., but it falls into that trap of being a little too goofy and humorous to be much of a film that takes a political stand; but on the flipside, a little too talky and political to be a pure action film. As it stands, it’s certainly watchable, especially if you like the lead actors. In summation: a strange concept finds some decent air with the very watchable lead actors they chose to cast. Worth a watch for people who like the action movies from the 90s, but not something most should go out of there way to take a look at.
6/10
Heartbreak Ridge (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I wanted to see this as a fan of Eastwood and as a fan of war movies. As an Eastwood vehicle, it works. He plays the part of a USMC lifer extremely well. As a war film, it’s severely lacking. Obviously Grenada was the not the most exciting war to choose, but the action sequences there really detract from the experience, especially if you’ve been around the block with the genre. Had they focused a bit more on his relationship with his ex-wife and the struggles he faces as an older Marine, it could have been better, and would have worked just fine without any action sequences. In summation: I thought it had a lot more potential had they focused a bit more on his personal life and how the military life had affected him, but as it is, Heartbreak Ride is nothing more than a serviceable Eastwood vehicle.
6/10
You’re Next (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – The slasher sub-genre in horror is one of the more tired, “been there done that” sort of thing. Though this doesn’t inject anything particularly original, if you like your slashers very dark and extremely intense, this a definite watch. The shock and awe when the killing begins is exceptional, probably one of the best I’ve seen. The plot takes a very dark turn after you realize the intention of the killers. In summation: if you’ve been around the proverbial block with slashers, you may find this to be a welcome addition. If you’re someone who generally hates the extreme violence that they sometimes favor, it should be avoided, as this is one of the more rough movies to be released since Saw and Hostel (that I’ve seen). The violence is never self-indulgent like in some of the aforementioned movies, but it doesn't shrike the least bit.
6.5/10
Green Lantern (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – Everyone has opinions that are not exactly popular, and one of mine is the fact that I enjoy this movie. I have no history with the comic character, so the inaccuracies that bother a lot of fans don’t concern me the least bit. I’ll be the first to admit the movie has some problems, especially the decision to have so much going on in what should be an origin story. Sure, it could have been better and it’s not on par with most of the newer comic book movies, but it’s still a fun sci-fi action film to me. In summation: likeable casting with Reynolds as the title character and a generous helping of action make this an enjoyable and entertaining action movie, even with the problems.
7/10
Grown Ups (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – Much like with Green Lantern, this was a widely panned movie, but I still enjoy it. I guess my opinion of Sandler allows me to watch most of his films, even the lower quality ones like this. I don’t go into his movies expecting some sort of philosophical enlightening; I generally expect to laugh a little, that’s all.
In that regard, I’m never really that disappointed. This is better than the successor, but isn’t on par with his earlier films like Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore, Waterboy, etc. The pool of actors that brought together mesh really well and everyone seems to be having some fun. In summation: fans of Sandler and the other leads will find enjoyment in this average comedy if they check their brains at the door and just shut down for a bit.
6/10
Pitch Black (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I’ve seen bits and pieces of this several times, but had never actually watched it in one sitting. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. This easily bests the follow up film, Chronicles of Riddick. I haven’t seen the new film in the series, but considering that most say it harkens back to Pitch Black, I’m definitely experiencing a bit of kindling in my interest. This is easily Diesel’s best film, as far as quality in performance and the movie overall. There’s not a lot you probably haven’t seen before, but there’s a surprising amount of character development and you have an effective mix of many different genres, with horror, sci-fi, and action obviously being the prominent ones. In summation: a very good sci-fi action film that benefits from strong performances and a original story. As an aside, this still looks and sounds very good for a 15 year old movie. I was very impressed with the Blu-ray A/V. After watching Stranded earlier in the week, this was the equivalent of eating a steak after being subjected to potted meat or Vienna sausages.
7.5/10
Temple of Doom 8.5/10
Raiders of the lost ark 9/10
Last Crusade 10/10
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 6.5/10
US Marshalls 6.5/10

Parker (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – As far as Statham films go, this is one of the better ones. The plot may be a little predictable for some, but as a film it’s definitely more grounded than his more popular film series’ like Transporter, Crank and The Expendables. Jennifer Lopez is surprisingly good in her accompanying role, as are the other supporting cast members. It seems this received mostly lackluster praise upon its release, but most all of Statham’s movies do anyway. In summation: fans of action movies and Statham will find plenty to enjoy here.
7/10
Payback: Straight Up Edition (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – This is essentially the director’s cut, which from what I understand deviates significantly from the theatrical release. I thought it was a really good action movie with one of Gibson’s better performances. It’s very simple in its setup and story, but it excels at what it sets out to do. I don’t think it has the depth of Man on Fire (my favorite revenge movie), but it delivers on all accounts. In summation: a very good revenge movie with plenty of good action and some excellent acting.
7.5/10
Mimic (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – This one has been on my radar for quite some time, as I really like Del Toro and the subject matter interests me. As is the case with most of his movies, it’s suitably creepy and atmospheric. It’s not as action packed as Aliens, but it has a similar feel. In summation: not exactly an earth shattering thriller, but one that combines thrills with action well enough to entertain for the duration of the film.
6.5/10
Click (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – Probably one of the last movies Sandler released that was received at least as decent by critics. I think it has a message, and though it’s delivered a little heavy handedly, there’s more to this than his recent offerings. It fades a bit with a repeat viewing, but has just enough laughs to keep you in for the long haul. In summation: it doesn’t match up with his earlier, better efforts, but this Sandler vehicle is worth a watch and has a little more up its sleeve than some of his other comedies.
5.5/10
Knowing (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – Alex Proyas is one of my dark horse favorites as a director. I thought The Crow, Dark City, and I Robot were all solid genre films, and this continues the trend, though it follows a slightly more predictable tread than his earlier films. This feels a lot like The Day the Earth Stood Still, with maybe a little less action; this is superior to the remake of it though. Cage turns in a fairly decent performance, too. The end had me scratching my head a little; it’s definitely one of those that’s open for interpretation. In summation: a decent sci-fi actioner with some good ideas mixed in among the formulaic story and characters.
6.5/10
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – I didn’t enjoy this as much the second time around, but it’s a decent romantic comedy. I’m not big on Russell Brand, but he’s actually not super annoying in this movie. This is one of those comedies that tries really hard to be funny, while at the same time being a little depressing and deep. It’s not especially bad at the latter, but recent films like Sideways, The Descendants, and About Schmidt combine these two genres far better than FSM does. I think a drama with elements of comedy is superior to a comedy with elements of drama. In summation: a good comedy, but not in the upper echelon of my favorites.

US Marshalls 6.5/10
Have both of these in my backlog. Really excited to finally watch The Fugitive.
300: Rise of an Empire - Another sequel and it's another awesome movie just didn't enjoy the ending... 7.5/10.
Yes man - I love Jim Carrey and even though it's not his best I still enjoy watching this movie over and over every now and then. 7/10
I have skimmed through the book before, and stuff in the trailer sounded really interesting, but the movie itself was just ok. I like the idea of a society with factions like that, and I feel like the film could have done so much more. I have a feeling the books are better, or at least do more interesting things with the concepts presented.
300: Rise of an Empire - 3.75/5 NNR
I enjoyed this--it captures the look and feel of the original 300 well while telling a different, congruent story. As the ending credits rolled, though, I suddenly got the impression that I had just watched a fan fic written and produced by people who really liked the first movie but had nothing to do with making it. Artemisia is a bad-ass character and Eva Green played her well. I didn't care as much for Themistocles--his speeches were boring instead of rousing and he had impossibly great plot armor; you're telling me an Athenian naval commander can single-handedly slaughter 20+ Immortals when expertly-trained and experienced Spartans almost took 1-for-1 losses fighting them?
Johnny Depp Sleeper, Christopher Walken
Despite the fact that all the animals in the film were computer graphics, I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. The great part is that you don't have to be religious to watch it, because whether you believe in a higher power or you do not, the underlying story in Noah is lovely, and one that we all know too well -- the power of family and love.(hope that wasn't mushy)
Also, I rated it 8/10 because after the flood, it dragged on slowly for a while and seemed too drawn out when they could have cut it down a bit. I was also disappointed that the twins after they're born are also computer graphics. It was disturbing.
But overall, a great movie.
some might say this is the worst Bond film, but i have to say to me this one has always been one of the coolest. yes bond in space is silly but to me this one kicks ass. I'd say the worst bond film was Die Another Day in case you are curious
Cloud Atlas - 3/10 - WTF? Over 90% of the movie I was confused as hell. I understand the concept, never read the book, still hated it.
Lone Survivor - 9/10 - Probably the best movie I've watched this year.
47 Ronin - 5/10 - Never watched the original. It was an OK movie. Could have been better, much better. Keanu Reaves, while I think he's a good actor, shouldn't have been in it. I feel it would have been better without all the supernatural mumbo jumbo.
