Cool concept. Kind of scary for a kids movie but has a happy ending. Kids enjoyed it.
Kind of a forced storyline to encompass a bunch of funny pranks. Didn't find it as funny as the jackass movies but did make me laugh at times. Wife didn't care for it.
2 Fast 2 Furious (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the original, but with the sixth being released a few months ago, I decided to watch through the rest of them this week. I was pleasantly surprised with this entry. It’s an action movie through and through, but I thought it was very entertaining, and fun in an over the top way. I also thought Walker and Tyrese had excellent chemistry in the leads. Their banter was one of the stronger points in the film to me. I mostly expected to have to slog through these earlier ones to get to the latest, much better received entries, but I had a lot of fun with this one. I think if you can accept it as a popcorn movie, you’ll get a fair amount of enjoyment from it.
7/10
Goldeneye (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I may have watched this as a child when it was first released, but to be quite honest, I don’t really remember. It hasn’t aged that well; some of the gadgets and action are pretty corny. Connery will always be Bond in my mind, but Brosnan is probably next in line. I think Daniel Craig is a superior actor, but Brosnan does Bond better. Anyway, it’s a middling entry in the franchise, and features a solid performance from Sean Bean as the main villain.
6/10
The Host (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Having recently watched the disappointing Mortal Instruments, I expected this YA novel adaptation to receive a similarly poor treatment. I’ve never read either of them, but as far as films go, I thought this was actually a decent movie. It borrows from other, more successful sci-fi films pretty heavily, but it’s a good watch. There’s that teen romance element, but it’s not nearly as oppressing here as in Mortal Instruments. If you liked I Am Number Four, this is a little more akin to it.
6.5/10
42 (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I’m a little surprised it’s taken this long to get a movie off the ground about Jackie Robinson. I thought this was well made, well acted, etc. It’s a little too formulaic and predictable, but how many sports movie aren’t? Even still, it’s a well done film that people should watch, and definitely pays tribute to the hero.
7/10
Bad Grandpa (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – It’s kind of hard for me to rate/review this as a movie, because it’s really just a collection of pranks. They tried to develop an overarching storyline to it, but it didn’t really add much for me. Personally I find the Jackass movies to be much more funny as a whole than this; sure there was a good prank here and there, but nothing too great. It’s worth a watch if you like the Jackass movies, but don’t expect the next big thing in comedy.
5/10
Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – I thought this one had some moments, but I’d take the first two entries over it personally. I think Lucas Black is an underappreciated actor, and though this isn’t what I would pick him for, he does a competent job in the lead role. The chronology is a little confusing, but I believe this occurs after the sixth film, but before the seventh; certain events in the film raises a couple of questions, but a quick search on Wikipedia corrected that for me. All in all, I think there’s something here for fans of the series, but it’s the weakest entry in the series to its release.
6.5/10
Fast and Furious (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Honestly, it’s only been a few days since I’ve watched it, but I’m already beginning to forget this one. It’s obvious this one’s primary purpose was to setup the future installments, and to reintroduce the major players in the series. I think it gets the trend started of focusing more on the action and less on the actual racing itself. It’s not bad, just not one of the more memorable in the series.
6/10
Fast Five (Blu-ray, 2nd viewing) – Definitely the biggest and most action packed of the series, and for most people, I would imagine this easily clinches the top spot. For me, it’s between this and 2 Fast 2 Furious. I can’t put my finger on the explanation, but I really liked it too. I think bringing in The Rock was the best thing they could do for the series, it was definitely the shot of energy it needed. People can complain about how it defies the law of physics, but it’s a fun watch.
7/10
Fast and Furious 6 (Blu-ray, 1st viewing) – Most everything that worked in the 5th entry works here too, though it doesn’t feel quite as fresh. I think at this point the series is beginning to lose a little steam, but is still worth watching. As was the case with Fast Five, there are some really good action scenes, in particular the last 15 minutes or so. In summation: a fun, entertaining summer blockbuster, but not quite at the level of the previous entry.

For the fast series:
2 = 5 > 6 > 3 > 1 > 4
I had high hopes for this movie because I thoroughly enjoyed both Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz, however, I was let down. It took a long time to get into the actual plot of the movie, and there were very few funny moments. If anything, this movie was good at immersion; I felt as dazed and disoriented after watching this it was if I too had gone on a pub crawl... However, what I don't understand is how it got such high reviews! Give it a go if you'd like. Maybe this one just wasn't for me.

It's definitely the weakest of the three. I think the critical acclaim might be left over nostalgia from Hot Fuzz.
I assumed that this movie would be terrible, and it definitely met my expectations. They should have stopped making these movies a long time ago.

I agree this movie was way better than I had originally expected. However don't think I'll give the books a read. 8/10
A surreal action/comedy following a plus sized half-human, half-vampire female named Blubberella who fights Nazis in 1940's Europe. Incredibly stupid and "out there" movie, but it never quite crosses that border to becoming juvenile in its gags. It was cute and got more than a few genuine laughs out of me, and is one of the few movies I've cared enough to go back and watch a second/third time. Entertainment value is definitely there, but only gave it an 8 because the last act felt relatively weak and uninspired compared to its earlier dream sequence parody of "Precious" in obvious blackface, and the titular protagonist's online date with Adolf Hitler.
A definite "watch" for one with two hours to kill, a Netflix subscription, and an open mind.
