Spirit of Radio - Rush (Rock, Progressive)
I love Rush, great straight-up rock band. Spirit of Radio is a great album for new Rush fans, as it is a "Best Of" album, and has most of their greatest hits except for YYZ. Rush is one of the most talented bands all around. Geddy Lee is crazy, switching between singing, bass playing, and the keyboards/synthesizers. Alex Lifeson is always overlooked, seeing as Geddy does so much and Neil is jesus, but Alex really has some remarkable guitar skills. Some solos make you ask, "Am I listening to Metallica, or Rush?" Not of course that the sound of the two artists are similar, of course, but in terms of skill, Alex can shred like no other. And let's not forget Neil. One of the greatest drummers of all time. With a Keith Moon style of free-drumming, he is really an asset to the band and their capabilities.
Score: 9.25/10

Kill 'Em All - Metallica (Metal, Thrash Metal)
Really good start to an amazing band. This album is a lot more thrashy than any of their others, but it is still a great album. Dave Mustaine really shows his skills in the songs, with heavy riffs and blistering solos. Though the vocals are a bit strained, as James was only 17, and his voice hadn't fully deepened yet. Do not let this deter you, however. A really good album, from start to finish.

my personal favorite album of all time. i've heard that trent reznor was under the influence of heroine when he created this masterpiece, and i'd believe it. i guess he was recovering from it when he created his next album, The Fragile.
anyway, every song on the album is brilliant, but a few of my favorites are:

i know not everyone is into this style of music, but you should really give at least this album a chance. if you look up nin on myspace, you can listen to all of his songs. well, THEIR songs, lol. i guess it's a band now...

I'd like to play Along. I like whoever had the idea of posting the Beneath The Sky album, they are local to me and I knew all six of the original members before they made that horrible album. Their first album is way better, and was written by the band, not by Victory Records.
