This generation -- definitely Mass Effect. I've easily logged over 200 hours in that game and I definitely getting the Collector's Edition version when the 2nd one comes out.
I know I open myself up to a ton of criticism, but I really like Kingdom Hearts.

I can't really rate these sorry.
MY top 3(no particular order): Pokemon Gold, Final Fantasy X, Super Mario RPG.
They occupied most of my video game life and they are the reason why my 1st game for every new system is a RPG.
I even have Super Mario RPG on SNES, My computer, and iPhone.

In my opinion any game that you put over 100 hours into IS an RPG.
By that time you are so immersed in the game/character/storyline that it quite simply IS a role-playing game.
