Actually, this is sort of feasible. Every http request includes a user agent string identifying the browser. I could compare the user agent to a list of known mobile browsers. The only downside to this is that the list of browsers would need to be maintained and it can easily be faked by anyone by just changing their user agent string, but that's not really a big deal.

Isn't that a lot of work though?

And would the badge only be on your profile when you're logged into your phone or would it be something you only have to do once??

Only once. And it's not that much work with resources like this that do the hard work for you.

So you can set it up to automatically compare the agent to the browsers then? I thought you'd have to do that yourself.

It can be automatically compared through regular expressions and simply testing for certain strings within the user agent.
