Because every game has cut content, and no game would ever ship if everything originally envisioned and worked on was put in the game. It's just a time constraint really.
Well don't worry- you can usually buy that back in the form of dlc.

I'm not arguing it's a good thing that content gets cut, but rather that we get the games. The opposite is look at ff versus 13 aka ff 15 now, it missed it's whole gen it was announced to be on.
There needs to be a happy medium.

I'm enjoying the game for what it is. I'm about to restart and make a thief class.

My game time was at 10 hours earlier when I saved, most of my time is spent wandering and doing every side quest I can find though; also collecting Chinpokomon and finding friends. Main story wise I'm only at the school, not sure how much is left after that, but I've been having a blast taking my time and finding all the references and side quests, I'm a level 12 of 15 so I'm guessing I have to be getting pretty close to the end of the overall game.

First time or second time at the school? If it's the first time, you still have a long way to go. If it's the 2nd time, then you're about half way through.

Second time, the actual big attack time.

so I can't get past part of the end. I fight a boss and it goes to loading black screen, but when I can aim press buttons etc, but the screen is still black and this has happened twice. awesome job obsidian.

Multiple saves is recommended on all Obsidian and Bethesda games for good reason.

I only had it glitch on me once and that's because I tried going from one screen to another and back too fast and got stuck in between screens. I had to load a checkpoint to fix it. Other than that it was glitch free for me.
