Took me 14 hours and 15 mins and I didn't even do everything in the game. I ended up with 101 friends, but you need around 118-120 for the More Popular Than John Lennon achievement. So I'd say it's more like 15-16 hours.

It's worth the $60 price tag to me.

You are never going to get a licensed ip with a long campaign. It simply is too costly when they know it will sell off name recognition alone. You should be more concerned about the quality, do the jokes hit or miss? How are the animations? Does it feel like the licensed world or is it devoid of any notable things from the ips universe?

The answer to all of these is yes (for me at least kat would say otherwise about animations, fortunately I haven't run into any issues. )

Originally it was supposed to be longer but it was caught in development hell and probably would of never released if it wasn't for ubisoft trimming it down.

I guess if you value you quantity over quality I would wait.

Back in the PS1 days 20-25 hours was the standard. Now we expect 40+ hours of content from our RPG's.

Obviously this is more of a joke game but should it really get a pass? I mean you slap the RPG tag on any good game made in the past 15 years and you automatically get 25 hours per right?

I guess it really depends on what 14-15 hours of good entertainment is worth to you. Personally I have paid 60 for far less entertainment but even I think it's odd I can beat a Obsidian game in two 7 hour sessions or less. As a South Park fan this is getting bought nonetheless but my point is still valid. If your not a big fan of SP this is a rent title.

@ Snapple

Pretty sure Cameron's Avatar took me like 25+ hours to beat the campaigns and it's a shooter.

I have read ONE review where the reviewer didn't remark on how short the game is. 8-10 hours has been the general consensus. Mine has been longer because it's been paused and sitting, but I'm almost through the campaign and I'd say I've actually PLAYED the game less than 6 hours.

It's a short game. Trying to pretend otherwise is just polishing a turd. The achievements will cause you to play it longer, although using a guide to minimize playthroughs can probably make it a really short completion. Personally, I didn't look at the achievements before I started playing so I think i'd need another 2 playthroughs to complete it, but I don't consider it then a 30 hour game.

I plan to return this after one playthrough and wait until it is $20 to buy it and go back for the completion. I'm just not sure what's with the trend of games that could and should be arcade games costing $60 lately....

That was kind of my sentiment. Who cares if it's 9 hours or 15? Short is short. Factor in what KIND of game it is and it's even more important.

You and I have been reading entirely opposite reviews then. Most reviews I have read say 12-16 which fits right in where I'll be beating the game with doing a few side missions.

I'm assuming you only did the main story line? Because I don't see how you beat it in 6 hours otherwise. There's a ton of missed content you haven't seen, and I'm not arguing it's a long game, just longer then what you, sour, and some reviewers who just did the main story are arguing.

Edit: look if you went into this liking rpgs and kind of enjoying south park, instead of the opposite you are gonna be disappointed. The combat was a means to an end, it's not very complex or a very long game, but it's what keeps engaged in the game. If you enjoyed south park a lot and rpgs equally or less you will find it much better. Their is a lot of references to the show and jokes that went on that if you aren't that big a fan of the TV show, you won't notice or deem relevant. This is south park first and rpg second.

Derp. Because I would play an rpg and just blow through the main quest???? Do you remember who I am??? So doing all side quests I come across I have 5 1/2 hours of gameplay and looking at a walkthrough I'm 1/2 way done. 12 hours max.

And the problem is basically what you say. I'm skipping a lot of cutscenes because they're pretty boring. I am enjoying the combat mechanics and gameplay but don't necessarily want to rewatch every South Park episode. Initially it was funny, but shock humor burns out after a while and I don't think this sustains itself. There are still funny bits but some cutscenes drag.

I repeat- as an arcade game this would have killed. But you said it yourself- they planned a longer game and cut parts. So why do you feel justified paying the same price you would have for the full length game??

*edit* I have not seen a single review that put it over 15 except the Canadian one on metacritic that claims it's 50+ hours. That's clearly an outlier and should be discarded.

Because every game has cut content, and no game would ever ship if everything originally envisioned and worked on was put in the game. It's just a time constraint really.
