It's funny because Evol and I just had this discussion with the 11 year old. He wants a new computer but his computer was wrecked by him being gullible and clicking everything. And he borrowed my moms computer once and when she was on it later, she got one of those pop ups that say "there's an error and the registry needs to be cleaned. Click here to begin!" So she clicks it, thinking he wrecked her computer but she herself in fact wrecked it.
(Rolls up sleeves)
Back in my day... we used MS DOS and didn't have a mouse to click on anything. I remember making boot-discs to have enough memory to play games. You delete lines of code to make more memory available. One time I went into the (actual) computer's config.sys and autoexec.bat files, and saw a bunch of hokey-pokey, so I figured all that wasn't necessary. Aaaaaaand bricked the computer. But then I saved it. Somehow.

I've had my Macbook Pro going on 5 years now (one of the first aluminum ones), not once have I ever had a virus or any type of problem with the computer at all. I also have Windows 7 running on it with BootCamp (solely used for GFWL and software to tune my Subaru that wasn't compatible with Mac OS).
Before my Mac, I was getting laptops for free from HP because the hard drives constantly crashed (about every 7 months for 5-6 laptops in a row). I finally ended up being upgraded to one of the top of the line HPs which I sold on eBay and bought my Mac shortly after. Best computer decision I've ever made.

Macs are not worth the extra money that you spend on them if you use the right types of protection on your computer.

For the money you spend on a Mac you can build a Sweet Gaming Rig, in fact usually for a lot less.
Example I haven't kept up with the current prices or newer model hardware but this is a decent build.

Yeah and there's tons of free great anti virus, anti malware, and firewall protections as well.
At this point there's no real reason to get a mac unless you are heavy into music and movie editing. It's simply not worth the price and software it is much more limited/more expensive.
Plus relatively no pc gaming which sucks.

I don't have to protect it from anything, the build quality is superior than any PC laptop I've used, and it's just as fast as the day I first turned it on. That alone is worth the extra money, I've turned it off maybe 20 times in the 5 years I've had it, like I said, not a single problem.
As soon as it dies I'll get another the very same day. I've had friends go through thousands of dollars in PCs during the time I've had this one laptop. It was easily worth the 1,500 bucks.
Obviously you've overlooked my BootCamp mention.

Honestly most people that mess up/utterly destroy their computers do it because they have no idea on what they're not supposed to do, like, don't click that ad, don't install X from X 3rd party source.
It is not worth $2000+ for me for a "secure" Computer with subpar specs. Very simple maintenance like twice a month will keep your PC running forever and is easily fixable should any problems arise, I'm not being a PC Elitist or anything AJ has good experience with Apple, naturally he'll stick with something that works, more power to you.

I've cleaned up in here and in random thoughts and will be reopening them both. If your post was deleted it was either why the thread was closed or it quoted an offending post.

Square-Enix grinds my gears for turning a simple HD upgrade into a dubious plot to ruin the entire series.

Damn Adventure Time game is pissing me off. The first time I played it I was going from Level 4 to 5 and I get a black screen, then nothing. Now I go from level 2 to 3 and it does the same damn thing. FIX YOUR FUCKING GAME! I really want to play the damn game.
*EDIT*
New rant! I tried playing Diablo 3 on my PC and somehow my fucking account got "Due to suspicious activity, this account has been locked." error. I followed all the steps, reset my password, try logging in and I get "Due to suspicious activity, this account has been locked." error again. WTF?????

I was really looking forward to PvZ, but it just doesn't do it for me. Not impressed at all.

Strippers vs Nuns would've done it for me. Day One buy.
