Titanfall was great in a lot of ways and a breath of fresh air to me personally as I love mecha and haven't really enjoyed a first-person shooter in a long time.

Wolfenstein was better than I was expecting.

I definitely have to pick DA Inquisition for GOTY though. The story is interesting, the writing is superb, most of the characters actually bring something to the table, and the combat and skills are really fun once you get the hang of the slight floaty-ness. The amount of content is huge even if you decide not to grab every collectible and/or do every side quest, and I am really pleasantly surprised at how many little details show up, like people in the mid-game responding to your choices and actions early-on, and how Cassandra and others casually mention the events that happened in the Dragon Age anime movie.

For me this was not even a contest for Dragon Age. 2014 was a disappointing year with only four truly stand out games DA, Shadow of Mordor, Bayonetta 2 and Wolfenstien. The usual games that would be in the running are nowhere near the expected quality. Far Cry 4 is following up the best game in the series and fails to equal let alone surpass it. Assassins Creed Unity was the biggest flop of the year (Not even better then the 360/PS3 stand alone) and Destiny is 99% hype.

I would give a shout out to "The Wolf Among Us" since it was indeed amazing but arguments about it's release date eligibility aside it's a glorified interactive TV show. Point and click stories with little to no game-play and a maximum of 30 minutes per episode (At 5 episodes that's a 2 and a half hour game?) would be a slap in the face to real games in my opinion.

Let's hope for a better tomorrow.
2015 might be one of the best gaming line ups in a decade or even more of a let down considering the titles involved. Time will tell.
