Star Wars 7, 8, and 9

7, 8, and 9 are supposedly due out on the 50th anniversery of Star Wars. that day i am unsure of. go find the day episode 4 came out and tack on 50 years. anyway, i think i speak for us all when i say, George Lucas, your fat ass is going to die of aheart attack before that day, so get started now. supposedly, the storyline goes like this: Imperial spies find Luke's hand that was cut off in Cloud City. they then go and clone it to have a new Sith lord. thats all i know for now. i can only hope they get Boba Fett back in, because in the Bounty Hunter series, he blows the fuck out of the sarlaac with a thermal detonater, and Dengar finds him. but who knows.

It came out in 1977, so 2027?

2027 is a long ways off, are you sure it's not the 35 anniversary? That would be 2012. Even the 40th in 2017, which is a ways away, but the 50th is WAY out there.

Out of curiousity you have any source for this info?
I'm not denying it as I'm not exactly friends with George Lucas, but I was pretty sure I was reading an article previously that he was not interested in doing further Star Wars movies (sorry it was a while ago - no source).
I'm a big star wars fan and would love if they did the story about Luke's clone etc from the books, but I'm not going to hold my breath to wait for it.

you guys may be right. 35th seems logical. and giving the age George Lucas is, 35th ann. may be smarter. again, going off unconfirmed rumors.

minioger, i get fed info from my cousin, who's on EOD duty in Germany. his info is USUALLY very reliable. but the next time he's on facebook, i'll ask where his source is, just to settle any disputes

Lol, well its not a news article so I'm not too stressed, it would be AWESOME if they were making more, but until I have a reliable source to quote I'm not counting on it. Source was just for me personally

an interview with George Lucas talking about all his films this was the bit about Star Wars:
Unattributed Quote:
George Lucas: The biggest nightmare in my life and that of the fans is the way the old Star Wars films don't compare favorably to the Star Wars prequel trilogy. I've explained this before, but it's worth repeating. The old films were created on extremely small production budgets and with very primitive special effects. The fact I could complete the old films at all is a miracle. As your son has noticed, the old films aren't as epic with the sweeping grandeur of the prequels.
The special effects technology of the 1970's and 1980's severely limited what kind of action sequences you could have. That's why you don't have any large scale battles involving thousands of storm troopers and Rebel soldiers. We didn't have the technology or money to do anything that was at all complex similar to what you saw in the prequels. Also, the reason I started with A New Hope was because I didn't really have a choice.
The Star Wars prequels were too complex to achieve with restricted resources of the 1970's. I realized I could film A New Hope because we had just enough technology to make star ships flying around in space. If Star Wars were created today, then I could start with The Phantom Menace because I have the necessary computer animation and financial means to make them possible.
In fact, I was so disappointed with the old films that I refused to continue the franchise after Return of the Jedi. I was willing to wait as long as needed to allow the special effects industry to catch up with my unbounded imagination. When I saw the digitally animated dinosaurs for the Jurassic Park film, I was satisfied that it was finally possible to produce The Phantom Menace. That's why it took so long to get the prequels made because I didn't want to have the travesty of the old films repeated again.
I learn from my mistakes in the most difficult manner possible. This is why I can't work on Star Wars Episode 7 immediately because current computer animation isn't sophisticated or cheap enough to make Star Wars Episode 7 as I see it in my mind. The computer technology of the year 2019 should be able to handle the mind boggling action scenes for Star Wars Episode 7. If not, then Star Wars Episode 7 will be delayed until the special effects technology exists to capture my full vision without compromises.

i agree mudkip. i liked 4, 5 and 6 a LOT more than these "tech-movies" of 1, 2, and 3.

Personally I thought 2 was petty good and I really liked 3, I liked 3 as much as I like 5 in fact.
Anyway, I have been reading stuff off and on for a long time talking about a live action show Lucas wanted to do that takes place between 3 and 4 and isn't quite as hero/Jedi-focused as the movies but instead shows how the Republic's change to the Empire affects regular civilians, soldiers, pilots, merchants etc.
Also, I think that if Lucas doesn't already have the stories for 7-9 written, they should use some of the stories from the Extended Universe books, as they all follow the same timeline.
