I really wish Capcom would go back to zombies for Resident Evil.
Do you mean to say this new game won't have any "zombies?"

I watched the trailer on Gamespot & they sure looked like zombies to me. Some of the new "bigger" zombies looked pretty cool as well. This will be a must buy for me!!!

Judging from the announcement trailer it seems like it's more of the Las Plagas or Uroboros or whatever they are going to call it this time.
They look like zombies in the trailer to me, but who really knows. Their all more or less the same thing whatever you call it.

depending on how fluid the combat system is depends on me getting this. i was sorely heartbroken playing 5, and i hope they just dont go for big, huge, all out action shooting.
RE needs to get back to survival horror, not "look how big and powerful my monster is, BWARG!"

Everything I have read and seen indicates that Capcom wants to get back to slower-paced survival-horror & puzzles with RE6, and they are using Operation Raccoon City to satisfy the folks that liked the shootier, more action-oriented style of 4 and 5.
I recently replayed through 5 on Veteran with a friend and I forgot how much fun it is. I am looking forward to both RE6 and RE:ORC!

From http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/01/19/resident-evil-6-announced.aspx:
Quote by Game Informer:
Capcom today confirmed Resident Evil 6 is in development and is coming this November.
The game is arriving on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 20, 2012. A PC version is coming at a later date. Capcom describes the game as a "blending action and survival horror" and is "the most ambitious, immersive and feature rich title of the series to date and promises to be the dramatic horror experience of the year."
Resident Evil 6 will follow Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield who will be "joined by new characters, each with their own unique perspective and involvement, in this relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale."
Here's a synopsis of the game's plot:
It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision.
At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.
“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” commented Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values.
"We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”
Resident Evil 6 is also getting numerous retail pre-order bonuses. GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon.com will each get an exclusive map that will function with various modes in the game. Additional details will be revealed at a later date.
I hope Sheva Alomar will be a playable character or at least have an extended cameo. I love her so good.

This.
I was hardcore into RE1, RE2 back in playstation days. I liked the atmosphere and the feeling of isolation and it really gave you that survivalist feeling. Plus, when a real big zombie bust through the wall, you really knew that bitch meant business. I couldn't get the hang of Re5 combat, do I shelfed it. Might try it again soon though.

I'm so stoked for this game I really don't wanna wait til November. In all honesty, 5 was the first RE game I really played. Didn't have a PS2 and was too busy with the Super Smash and Zelda to pick them up for Gamecube. I recently borrowed the first one from a friend and have decided I need to start playing through the franchise.
On a related note, I feel like I'm one of the only ones who liked 5. I know, I know, it's all I've ever known so I don't know what I'm missing, or whatever line of bs goes there. But a friend of mine got me hooked on it and we played for 18 straight hours one night beating the second half of veteran and then dominating that bitch on professional. Got the original 1k and everything.
I guess that's just my two cents.
