Nintendo couldn't get rid of the original Final Fantasy fast enough, even with all the Nintendo Power hype. That was the 1st one I played, got to the very end, then my save file corrupted. Dragon Warrior was more your console RPG fix, until Final Fantasy II (IV) rolled out years later... I rented it so often that the video store owner just sold me the copy. People were nicer back then. The lady probably could've milked me for 3x the cost off my allowance money over a 2yr period.

I'm old(ish), 32. But I wouldn't take back my time for anything. That was a golden era. Was about six or seven when Dad came home one winter storm with a Nintendo NES. Pre-teenager getting an SNES, then expanded to Playstation during a rebellious teenage-hood, right when FF7 dropped, and I dropped being a fanboy (to only Nintendo). 1st job I could finally buy my own games, right around Dreamcast, and waiting in line for a PS2, and Xbox, right when the market started getting complicated. I missed the Atari generation, but to me it all started with 8-bit. Blows my mind getting a kindergartener 'Need for Speed: Most Wanted' on 360 today. I can't see him play it since we're 1500 miles away, but I was happy with RC-Pro AM, and Rad Racer. He has a photo-realistic open world.
