Falling in love with Mass Effect. I had briefly tried getting into it years ago right after I got my first 360 but didn't even get past Eden Prime. It sat on my shelf for a few weeks before I sent it back to gamefly. I then decided to give it another shot after ME3 came out. I downloaded it off the MP but only just recently finally got around to starting it.

You're in for a treat. Once you are able to captain a ship and leave the Citadel, the game gets even better.
Then when you complete it and put in 2, it gets even gooder bettar!!

Dude I went through the same issue, here's how you fix it. Load up Halo 2 and when it asks for the activation code just insert another GFWL activation code.
I had all sorts of problems trying to get the code to work when I bought Fallout 3, decided to try the Halo 2 code and it worked. Most likely will solve your issue as well.
Someone else told me to try the same thing after I had already given up on it and I just said fuck it and haven't gone back since the servers are now down for MP anyways
