Yeah, he played like shit but I had to agree that the penalty call on that TD pass to Gates was horse shit. I'm glad I didn't draft Rivers for any of my teams this year. I had him last year.

I think it's disgusting what's going on at Penn State. It's baffling to see some fans there ignorantly throwing their support behind Joe Paterno when he admitted to having knowledge of heinous sexually criminal acts against children and doing nothing about it for over ten years. He stated he "still wants to do what is best for the university" but went on to announce he will wait until the end of the season to retire. How the hell could he honestly think anything other than submitting his immediate resignation could be good for the university and his team. This story is only gonna get bigger and more outraging the longer he tries to hang around. I truly hope their board of trustees does the right thing and fires him if he refuses to step down.

Irish I have to disagree with you, Paterno is a great coach, you can't deny that, he didn't do anything other than trust his staff and I have yet to hear any allegation he had any first hand knowledge that his staff actually molested or attacked anyone.

If you can provide a link that says he knew what happened I would appreciate but all I've read so far is that an grad student informed him he saw his assisstant coach sexually abusing a minor in the locker room and that Paterno "failed to inform the proper authorities".

So far the media has made Paterno and the Pen State staff out to be villans, very few facts have actually surfaced as to what I can tell and at the very least Paterno has committed no crimes, as for that I support him and look down on Pen State's decision to fire him.

EDIT: I did just read Paterno did report the incident to the athletic director at the time so either their is innacurrate reporting or Paterno really is getting the blame for something that isn't his fault.

My question is why didn't this grad assistant or Paterno himself alert the police immediately?! There's no other answer except for the fact that they wanted to keep it hush hush and try to sweep it under the rug. It's also known that Paterno told Sandusky to no longer bring boys onto the campus. Feel free to read the Grand Jury report detailing the investigation into Sandusky's depravities and then try to say that there's no way Paterno knew what was going on. He was charged on 40 counts of abuse ranging over a long period of time. You don't work with someone as closely as those two did for as long as they did and not see the signs of that kind of behavior. Gerry Sandusky started a charity to help boys from abusive homes and he used his influence and position in that charity to get close to these kids with the intent on sexually abusing them. It made me sick to read through it.

I put that in quotes because I pulled it directly off of an AP article, although its now been updated with newer information and I cannot promise the wording is the same, after reading the Grand Jury Report I still think Paterno should be allowed to finish out the season though, he told the athletic director who claims Paterno didn't, and from my reading of it Paterno conviced Sandusky to retire, Paterno may have had an idea that Sandusky was doing something behind closed doors but I doubt Paterno knew what, especially when a majority of the contact occurred in Sandusky's residence untill the 4th victim but I doubt Paterno was really monitoring the sauna that much, especially when its a heavily used facility (well it is at my school anyway).

Its easy to hide secrets especially when you keep your work life and home life seperate, and even easier when Sandusky had his charity to cover for him spending so much time with his victims, its like saying a man rapes several women and his wife/coworkers should be accountable because they would know if he was up to anything unlawful.
