Josh Gordon fails another drug test and gets suspended for an entire season but Ray Rice is only suspended for two games after getting indicted on charges of aggravated assault for when he knocked his fiancé out cold and then dragged her unconscious body out of an elevator. I think his off the field issues and how often they have occurred played a large role in his suspension.

You're missing my point entirely. My point being the punishment does not fit the crime/infraction. Josh Gordon is not the first guy to test positive and get suspended for the victimless crime of smoking pot. And Ray Rice is sure as fuck not the first football player to beat his spouse and get a slap on the wrist. This issue goes beyond the NFL and their outdated drug policies which are just sad reflections of our justice system where there's mandatory sentencing and almost half of our prison population is non-violent drug offenders.

This. Exactly. If Rice would have gotten caught smoking a joint in the elevator, it would've been a 4 game suspension. Because he knocked out his fiancee' it's only 2 games and a 3rd game check
Side topic: Why the fuck are they continuing with the watered down bullshit that is Thursday night football? The games are generally terrible matchups and it's just awful to watch.
