I think the important thing is to note that they called it "Dragonball Evolution" on purpose, meaning they've evolved part of the original Dragonball's prophesized monkeyboy story into a modern, fast & furious take of a school outcast.
I'm going to see it with an open mind, knowing full well it won't be anything like the great moments of DBZ or the fun oddity that was DBGT. But I will probably wait until it's at a dollar theatre or DVD rental rather than spending $7-10 at a regular cinema

the guy i work with that sent me the video page says there's actually an old japanese movie about dragonball. i think it's called the magic begins or something. he said the names are different but the characters are very similar and they follow the story. i'll look into it more and post a link if i find anything.
