What did you expect? Netflix runs everyone out of the business of mailing and streaming movies to people with low prices. That way when they have no competition they can jack up the prices as much as they want.
This is why I pirate things.
And you can be sure this is one of the reasons why they're raising their prices.
I highly doubt that with this statistic:
In April 2011, Netflix announced 23.6 million subscribers.

I love it when pirating is brought up the first reaction is always along the lines of you're the reasons prices are so high.
The long and short of it is this, Netflix would have raised prices no matter what. No matter how many pirates exist it has little to no effect on companies such as Netflix who already have such a huge established base.
It's reasons like this why piracy is so rampant online, why bother paying obnoxious fees for a rental/streaming service (of which suffers from having to buffer and lag) when you can download it?
I'm not saying I strictly pirate everything, I do own quite the collection of movies and music and obviously games. I do support things that I like and want to see more of. But as soon as a big business hikes up prices an obnoxious amount (in this case 60%) I can't help but not feel sorry for stealing things.
pretty much this

I have no regret from withdrawing my $20 subscription to Netflix. I would have zero issues re-instating my membership when and if they decide to do what they have planned and have new releases streaming as soon as they appear on store shelves.

Can anyone else think of a reason why they are hiking prices other then "piracy"? How about they are hiking the prices for subscriptions and shit because it cost them money to have the cool up to date shows on netflix....and instant q for that matter.
Camelot just ended there season I dont know when but it wasn't very long ago...It is already on Netflix Instant Q...Now..that's not a big title such as curb your enthusiasm, or like Lost when it was on air...but it cost them money to put these shows on there for us....I am estatic they put Camelot on there as quick as they did.
I download the shit out of movies and music. But if it is a big budget film, or a movie I have been really wanting to see, I'll go to the theatre, if not...im downloading that bitch...same goes for music...Right now I download everything, but as soon as I get my iPhone back, I'll be right back on iTunes supporting my fave artists

That's why I said it was "one of the reasons". I didn't say it was the only reason and I wasn't trying to call you out personally. The fact is that Netflix has no real competition and they know that people will pay the increased rates. In the long run it's still cheaper than renting the old fashioned way.

Didn't read any of the previous posts, but I think they're just going to stop putting good/newer movies onto instant queue, that way it'll force people who enjoy instant to double their payments per month.
Personally, I don't care because I'm on Chad's account and I can only instant stream anyways.

$15.00 / 4 people = 3.75 ...not really much of a difference for me...
But i agree on that they should have more movies on instant stream.
