Love it, I ran around yesterday and only completed like 2 or 3 story missions, spent the rest of my time collectin the artifacts and shit, killed many captains but since I hadn't progressed the story very far it really didn't mean anything except I got to watch some pretty sick kill cams. I was only killed twice, both times due to a fuckin animal. The second time I died there were 3 yes I said 3 captains on my screen and all those bitches got promoted even tho a fuckin animal killed me but all in all I'd say it's a pretty fun game

Right now i'm giving it a 9/10. Absolutely a must have for any LOTR or Hobbit fan.
Gameplay is half Assassins Creed and half Arkham Asylum.

Waiting on my copy from Gamefly, is it as hard as people are saying it is? Danimal said he died like 3 times in a few hours, but he sucks at games

When you get overwhelmed you get OVERWHELMED. I've had to run away from a couple encounters that got the whole village involved.
With that being said, it's not Dark Souls hard, but you will die, mkay?

It really depends on what you want it to be. Using stealth and prep (Dominating captains etc) missions can be super easy. If you want to go in Rambo style it's obviously not going to work in your favor 100% of the time. That said death is not a negative aspect in this game. In fact you gain more then you lose as the person who killed you gives way more XP the next time you fight and makes it overall more interesting. Play smart and you will feel like a unstoppable badass.

This will be the next game I purchase. Gotta finish Skyrim again and then finally get to Diablo III before that thought.

For me only the scripted bosses are difficult since they limit you're preparation. You will know what I mean when you face the Hammer midway through the game. Make sure you master dodging and executions by then.
Edit: Finishing up the story right now. Damn what an amazing ride. Easily one of the best open world adventures out there. Can't wait for a sequel.

Anyone know if the game turns into a free roam at your own speed once you complete the main story?

I took the liberty of reviewing the game (On PS4).
Check it out if your still on the fence.

this isn't a 9.5/10 game.
it's a solid 8/10, and that's not a bad thing. there's some glaring flaws as a first entry to make it any higher then that imo.

Glaring flaws huh? I suppose it would be crazy to think you would elaborate on that. It has flaws but I don't recall them glaring at me so vividly. I mostly just had slight camera issues. (Keep in mind we played different versions).

the open world content is pretty lackluster, like the weapon challenges for instance.
camera sucks
the story isn't that great despite having a ton of backstory and content to work with ( and lol at having to shoe horn
etc.

The open world is amazing. You're not even far enough to do anything yet are you? Once you can brand captains you can order them to start a wide array of missions with different outcomes.
The story is more for fans of the books. The creation of the rings and origins of Sauron are barely even spoken of in the movies. Again are you even halfway through it to comment on it? Gollum lives in and around Mordor for obvious reasons. Given his age and obsession with the ring his presence in the game is only natural. I mean he IS the official guide to Mordor in LOTR so one would think he has had some adventures there.

Just beat the hammer (halfway point). I'm enjoying the game immensely. It's pretty easy though, are there death stats anywhere? I feel like I've only died 7-8 times thus far.
Edit: Also, is there a way to see hunting and survival challenges, like descriptions? I wanted to get everything done in the first map before going to the second, but I have no idea what I need to do for those challenges.
Edit 2: Guess I should've paid more attention to those and should have done them as they were listed. Lots of catching up tomorrow.
