I'm excited that Orchid is back, just because she was my favourite on the SNES version and she always seemed like the face of KI along with Fulgore who is my other favourite. I know TJ Combo and Jago are actually like the star characters but I was terrible with both so I hated them.
So yeah, they just need to announce Fulgore now.
Sadira looks ok, I'm glad they are doing more female characters that aren't terrible cough kim cough.
Orchid's new design is alright too, I am really glad they didn't keep the KI2 version that looked like a yellow transvestite.

Well because we have so few characters at launch- this will be all we get until 2014... so I'm glad Orchid's in from the start. Verdict isn't out on how good this game will be, but if they really do keeping pumping out characters every quarter or so... as they've said, the engine is there & the roster will grow... so it has the potential of a 40-50 roster in a few years. Dynamic achievements will help... such as I really like Injustice & all the DLC characters, but I have little reason to come back since I maxed out the base game.

Newest Game Informer article says they are actually going to start rotating the free character slot later on so it won't be all Jago all the time thank goodness.
I've always liked KI's music, I bought the original soundtrack off my friend and listened to it way too much. During the character select music I would yell character names to myself.
ORCHID! SABREWULF! Spinal.
The new article also says they got the original announcer guy from the arcade back, but also that they had a different guy doing placeholder vocals and they liked him so much they kept both.
+edit+ so apparently, this game studio "Double Helix" contains the people from Shiny Entertainment, who did Earthworm Jim and MDK among other games. This is a good sign, as those games had tons of character and were obviously labors of love. The studio is also responsible for the Green Lantern game that came out about the same time as the movie and it was technically solid. Also DH has done Silent Hill: Homecoming, MX vs ATV Reflex, and Front Mission Evolved, the latter two I haven't played but both reviewed solidly.

The email does say that the killer instinct code is only good for the account that it was given to, "free gift code valid only for the authorized account holder of the gamertag this email is sent to"
Hopefully that doesn't interfere with your plans to give one away.
