It's not the same for me, though. I don't really play online with a lot of people and I hate shooters and sports games. I love jrpgs and Sony ports more, hands down. It's easy for me to stick with my principles because we will have to buy 2 of whatever console we choose, and the ps4 is cheaper.
I think if people just didn't buy the xo, Microsoft would change their policies- but that's never going to happen. If the xo sells well, the next playstation will probably be exactly the same- but by then i'll be 700, so who cares. So in the end it comes down to whether their policies bother you or not, and avoiding them if they do.
I've considered unplugging completely, that's how much the xo's policies bother me. So for me the choice was always ps4 or wiiU. And now I need to mourn my 12 360s, nearly 150k gamerscore, and the 450+ games I've played. In the end, I've gotten nothing from microsoft in return for my investment- not even respect. :/

The Online Pass program for PlayStation first-party games will not continue on PlayStation 4. Similar to PS3, we will not dictate the online used game strategy (the ability to play used games online) of its publishing partners. As announced last night, PS4 will not have any gating restrictions for used disc-based games. When a gamer buys a PS4 disc they have right to use that copy of the game, so they can trade-in the game at retail, sell it to another person, lend it to a friend, or keep it forever.
This is good news for gamers, indeed. In a nutshell, you can buy a used single-player game for the PS4 and play it all you want. If you want to go online with it, you may have to deal with some sort of publisher-determined DRM, be it an Online Pass or whatever.
So the possibility of fees/ restrictions is ONLY playing online- a la online passes.

Exactly this... I'm pretty sure that answer guaranteed I won't be getting the Xbone. I can understand why they want to do it but gamers are what made Xbox the powerhouse it is and they really should take their wants and expectations to heart, not just insult us.

also apparently although killer instinct is f2p you can buy the game with all the content fr normal price instead of just bits and pieces, which is good.

Right now PS4 is the #1 console on Amazon, the launch edition is already sold out but they're doing a standard edition still with preorders that says it will launch as close to release day as possible, maybe Microsoft will get a hint and still fix something ahead of time.
