Honestly I just think you're both right. The issue as I see it is completely reciprocal. The reason I tend not to post a whole lot is because the threads themselves have become overly general with the "random this" and "random that." I rarely feel that I have anything to contribute because most of the posts I feel like are filled with inside jokes and personal relationships. I do think that the staff has been lackluster on the articles and news recently, but it isn't fair to place the blame entirely on them because nobody seems to really be doing much to change that except complaining. With that said, you're all beautiful and I have the fullest confidence that if we all care enough, we can revitalize the site quite a bit on all fronts. I'm going to go find something and write an article about it.

This is fucking stupid, Snapple. Just shut up already. The site can't be changed or fixed without Jackson. End of story.
Stop fucking scapegoating the writers. It has never been the staff's fault and this site has had far worse staff than it does now. In fact, instead of bitching about whatever it is that you're actually complaining about, why don't you PM spam the staff members who haven't posted a single thing in a year? Go nuts on Jackson! Right now all you're doing is driving a rift between the last couple of members that keep this piece of shit afloat.
And for what?

Yeah this should really go to PM's before people start taking sides and the looting/raping/pillaging starts. This was supposed to be about reflecting on good threads.

True Achievements/Metacritic/Ign etc.
User reviews are possible here if you title them as such. We don't even get the option. If I just made a regular thread nobody would see the damn thing because 90% of the active members only see the past 10 random crap threads in the most recent posts. I was merely pointing out that Meta does not follow your strict rules and it never even gets mentioned. He does a Pro/Con list (Which is fine) calls it a review and still no mention of the supposed guidelines that prevented my articles from getting published. I'm not pointing fingers or anything but that just seemed unfair to me.

No, it's not about that. It's reflecting on the times when this site was fun. None of those threads people linked are reviews or game threads. They are threads that went way off topic and actually pissed a lot of members off.
I don't understand how that leads to a discussion about how the site is sinking due to a lack of staff activity.

None of the sites you listed do that. What they do is the equivalent of what we do- have a separate area for site reviews and user reviews. Same with metacritic, gamespot and every review site.
I understand you felt singled out but as I said to snapple, you don't know what goes on with the staff. We decided the guidelines were needed because of the fact that it takes as long to edit some of the submissions as it would to totally rewrite them.
Let me share an example of a recent "news" submission:
Unattributed Quote:
Original xbox the first one doesn't have xbox live, I'm guessing because xbox lives servers are gone plus it's so outdated. I know I couldn't play the godly game halo 2 which I played during my teen years. I would think that xbox live for the 360 would disappear due to sales to companies for new released games, plus Microsoft could have overstock on the xbox one or they just want to sell more xbox ones. I'm sure xbox America will be updated to comprehend with xbox one achievements games etc. This site is awesome by the way. I'm sure we still have time before xbox live for the second xbox is shutdown.
And because I have an article submission thread, I can reject this without hurting someone's feelings, just saying "your article doesn't meet our guidelines, please edit it or feel free to post it in a regular thread."
A user review section would be fantastic and I totally support that- but that falls under the kind of change no one here can do.
And yes meta doesn't follow the rules, but he's my superior, so I guess he gets to do what he wants.

Except I gave solutions that would increase activity as well besides simply complaining. I'm not looking for solution, I've already presented it to you. Whether or not it is taken under consideration is not up to me at this point.
This isn't about mud slinging but solutions and problems I feel can certainly be addressed with the little active members we have to bring back others and Garner more interest in the site.
And you're right I can't stop the arguments or fights on the site aside from limiting my own personal involvement in them. If it is such a rampant issue then a harder stand should be taken, and as staff you should discuss it privately and then make a public statement stating the ramifications of this behavior going forward. This policy should hold the staff to the same level of accountability as regular members if involved in a situation.

That article belongs on Fox News. Seriously though Meta needs to be stopped. Titanfall is bad.

But this isn't the thread for that. So it was mud slinging. I said "not enough posts on the site? Post more!" And you attacked the staff. Spin it how you want, that's what it comes down to.
And staff mostly is subject to the same rules as everyone else, just not the same consequences (because seriously- who would respect a mod who gets suspended?) But we don't break them. When have you seen one of us come in and just publicly trash another staff member? We give a lot of leniency with teasing members and skirmishes. For ourselves and the normies. But calling out staff has been a huge no no since I was on my first account here. We can't have a high tolerance for that- even when people may not think what they're doing is so bad. Regardless of whether that effort shows to the members or not, the 3 active staff members put a lot of work into this site and a ton of our own time when we all have full lives. And we all deserve respect for that, even if you don't think we seem to deserve any thanks or recognition.
Because I'm consistent, I'll be cleaning up this thread now. I'll try to leave thread integrity intact.

Ok cleaned up. If anyone wants to know the whys of the site workings or staff issues feel free to pm me. Otherwise please leave this thread as what it was intended to be- a nostalgic discussion of the good old days.
Site suggestions have a forum, please deposit them there.

Jesus Fucking Christ God Almighty.
What he fuck happened? Thread started out great and turned into a flame war.
So here goes. Why don't I post like I used to? Quite a few things really. I'll cover a little of it.
A couple years ago, some personal shit went down, my closest "friends" here know about it. I took a break and also cut my gaming back by a huge margin. When I returned, a lot of new members had joined, who were pretty regular posters it seemed. I felt I didn't know them, I had been gone a little while. During that time some of my "besties" left the site. While I feel that I still know a good bit of members here, it has just never felt the same for me. My crew pretty much all left. I still post/shout to the memebers still here that I knew from before, but nowhere near the level i used to.
For me it is nothing to do with articles, posts, threads, etc.
For me, it is like my group, my time/era, is ended. I mostly lurk now, and if something actually sparks a response, I give it. Hell, I even gave away my intro post. Mike does it now, because I knew my time on site was declining massively. I even basically single handedly killed the trade thread, by failing to update it regularly.
I have 2 boys in sports and a full time job, life gets in the way a lot now.
That said, some of my favorite threads ever from my heyday:
Whats behind YOUR Gamertag Just as it says. A thread to explain why you chose your identity on XBL.
To NOAH9000 Messing with a good friend, and I miss him greatly around here.
call of duty 3 boosters needed LOL, the times we had, those of us who tormented ourselves with this. And my dumbass went through it twice because I promised a friend i would help him complete the game.
Then there were the threads that almost got the original Mike and me banned, lol. Those were the times.

The reason I tend not to post a whole lot is because the threads themselves have become overly general with the "random this" and "random that." Pretty sure the answer to that would be yes, very much so.

The best night I had on here was when I was in party chat on xbox with a few peeps from here a couple years ago and we all started laughing at that "staff member" that got a giant penis drawn on him... people laughed, threads were closed, and people were banned. Great times....
