I cannot get into this game at all. The character animation kill me when having conversations. The story is cool, yet boring to me.
I dunno, maybe I got my hopes to high for this title.
I will give it more time to see if my initial feelings change.

IDK, I don't really care for this game as much as I want to. Don't get me wrong, graphics, story, voice acting, it's all GREAT.
I'm just not much for these types of games, I guess I'm more of a run and gun type shooter guy...Not much for the strategy of flashing my flashlight at dudes and then popping them with the gun.
Nothing from what I can tell is wrong with the game itself....It's just my preference......I want to keep playing solely to see what happens....but I don't think I can bring myself to do it.

Just finished the game. WOW! GREAT!
I loved the ending, a lot of people on another forum said the ending sucked... but that's because they didn't understand it.
if anyone has any questions about the ending just PM me.
Can't wait for all the DLC and the sequels!

Heres some potential news on the 2nd DLC, 1st one is supposed to be called "The signal" and the 2nd one is supposedly going to be "The writer"

I finished Alan Wake last night, and of course restarted it from the beginning so i can really pay attention to the game and story.
Prior I tried playing with a lack of sleep and that certaintly does not help any of the experience.
the Story is really good 3/4 of the way through and near the end, I felt it drop off a bit. The ending I understood clearly, but i didn't really care for it, and not to mention it was really short. Maybe the up and coming DLC will fix that for me.
Graphically, this game is amazing and is comparable to really nothing else. Everything looks great
The voice syncing deal does bother me, as it bothers me with everything, whether it is a movie or game. Hell it happened during an actual bluray of Nightmare on Elm Street while watching with 5.1, and had to change to Mono to fix it, its just a huge Pet Peeve to me. I am however glad that Remedy is going to fix it soon, good job on their part.
However the gameplay is very fun but again near the end got really repetitive and needed something more.
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoilernot to mention one of the worse last boss sessions in a game ever, shooting flares in a tornado is definately not fun...
All in all, for 5 years of development, I expected a longer story, a little more to the gameplay, and to be less predictable.
Maybe I am being a little harsh on it but I honestly thought it would be a bigger game.
Out of ten I give it an 8.25

i was afraid of this.
i don't want to turn myself off or anything, but i've been looking into wake and i don't really like what i see. i was hoping for an amazing silent hill type game.... and i don't think i'm going to be pleased.
the whole flashlight thing in itself takes away from my original expectations.
i had to deal with burning enemies in the "alone in the dark" demo.
it just isn't necessary.

well actually in this game it fits very well with the concept of light versus dark.

I was planning on writing a huge in depth explanation of the ending but in lieu of the i'll just say these few things.
Spoiler: Click here to toggle spoiler
1.The Bright Falls Miniseries (available on XBL) proves that Alan is not crazy, it is not all in his head, because it happened to Jake as well.
as to the ending there are literally hundreds of theories most can be found here:
http://forum.alanwake.com/showthread.php?t=3669&highlight=alan+wake+ending
I have a few fav. interpretations but I don't feel like typing them all out here.
Point is, The free DLC takes place AFTER the game, so we'll have to wait for that to get some more answers. then we also have the 2nd dlc so we'll all have to wait and see.
. As for the ending I will quote stephen king in the game "nightmares exist outside of logic and there is little fun to be had in explanations."(it was clear from the beginning that there would be loose ends). There are no DEFINITE answers YET. It's like the show LOST we're just gonna have to wait until the entire series concludes to have all the answers

Does anyone know the name of the song they play after you finish episode 2? I'd REALLY like to know as I want to put that song on my phone.
I agree with you, this game has quite a few songs on it that I enjoy, they have the soundtrack out for Red Dead Redemption but nothing out for Alan Wake.......I think it should have been the other way around.
