I have the same problem. I swear I hear the sound all of the time. Whats more annoying is when you are playing a game and expecting an achievement to pop and a friend pops online.

But I love achievements. I think they add replayability to games you may not give a second chance otherwise. Plus they can be used for competitive reasons, like they are done here with the competitions. My friends and I are always competing to see who can have the highest score all together or in certain games.

I've played a number of waffles for the easy 1K but I'm deffinitely not a completionist, only 12. I have over 1000 on only GTA 4, Fable 2 and The Godfather. If the game sucks I rarely play through it more than once and I refuse to play any of the old sports titles. You'll never see the likes of Hannah Montana or My Horse & Me in my games played list. I love earning achievements cause most of em actually feel earned.

The only hitch is that I feel achievements have ruined sports games for me. I used to play NCAA Football and Madden religiously when I played on my old PS2 but now once I've got all the chievos I feel like getting I move onto something else.

Of course you don't get anything out of achievements... which is my whole argument regarding gamesaving.... why bother? Achievements have taken over my world pretty much.For me, personally, it gives me something to go for when I play a game. Its became very addicting to me very quickly. I feel it gives myself a sense of accomplishment when I look and see all the things Ive done over the years. And years from now, when Im randomly browsing through my Achievements, Ill come across a game and remember what it took to get that Achievement. Ya, some may play quick 1000's to boost their Gamerscore, and Im guilty of it, but for me, I feel my Gamerscore represents all the work and time Ive put into the games Ive played, whether it be a quick easy game like Hanna Montana or a tough 1000 like any of the CoD games

I remember back in the days when Achievements were not around. And looking back on it now, I have no idea how I lived back in those days. I still play games for the enjoyment, however, Achievements are also a big part for me. In recent conversations Ive had where my gamerscore is brought up; people either think Im a god, or im a fag. Haha...To each his own.

It's true.

My favourite thing about Gamerscore is it motivates me to give a game more attention than I normally might. For instance, I rented Armored Core 4 and beat it fairly quickly. Usually I'd pop the disc out and head over to the video store to swap it for something else right away, but instead I stuck with it a whole extra day to grab more 'cheevs.

Gamerscore or not, I still won't play a game I'm not enjoying just for more points. See: Shellshock 2. The exception to this was Madden 06's simming 30 years, but that was my personal vendetta.

A fun game is a fun game; Achievements and Gamerscore are the icing, not the cake.

I love achievements and gamerscore. For all the reasons state above. Replay value, sense of accomplishment, goal setting. I find that it gives me a reason to try games I normally wouldn't have played and to stick to some that I normally would have just quit on. (Like Prey) Cherokee level is garbage how many times did I play that stupid death mini game.

And I love getting those hard ones that most other people won't go for. That makes me feel real good.

Yeah I wouldnt do half the things I do now in games. Gets me to explore a little more.
