Turtle Beach X3 vs. X4 ???

Ok, after my last thread about the Microsoft Wireless headset I have since decided to go with a turtle beach headset. Turns out my wife loves the idea of not having to hear my games when I play, especially if I wake up early or stay up late to play.

So, has anyone tried out BOTH the X3 and the X4? From what I can see the main difference is the sounds. X3 has stereo sound and the X4 has Dolby 5.1 surround sound. There are a few other things as well, but that's the main one.

If you haven't tried both...tell me what you think of the one you have.

Also...I won't be buying the X31 or X41, the X3 and X4 are cheaper options and "practically" the same thing.

I'm actually waiting on my pair of x3's to come sometime this week. I've heard amazing things about them. I don't think the extra 50-100$ is worth stepping up to x4's. I haven't seen any really go for cheap. Just check Craigslist and ebay.

I have had the x3's for a little over a year and I love them, can play late at night with my wife and kid sleeping. They have good quality sound and to me the wireless ones were well worth the $99.99 they cost, or you can get a wired version for like $59.99. The fact I like best is now I have a mic and can hear my game audio all in one without disturbing anyone.

I just bought the wireless x3's and a wireless controller with a chat pad for 100$ on ebay. So I'm stoked to finally be able to play loud at night, I cannot wait.

I've had the X4's for a long time now and I still enjoy the hell out of them. They sound really good and stay comfortable for long periods of time. My only complaint with them is that they can eat AAA batteries pretty quick, even then it's not much of a worry.

I did a review on these awhile back and updated it just now with current prices.

If I'm not mistaken you can't hook up the chatpad and x3 headphone connector together...

You can get it the X3 and X4 cheaper refurbished or through pretty much any retail store. Trust me, I've done my research.

I'd buy refurbished since it still comes with a 1 year warranty.

yeah i did the same thing--after going thru batteries like crazy I bought a charger and it came with 4 (AAA) and 4(AA) batteries at Sam's Club and i think it cost me $29.99. So now i have a set in my headset, and set of AAA's always charged and ready to go

i have the x4's and love them. the only problem it like meta said with the batt life. i wish it would make a sound when ur batts are to the point that the mic dont work. they will stillplay game audio and ppl talking but u cant talk back. but other than that they are GREAT
