that just says instant of the cable for the transmitter being an outlet, its a usb. It still uses batteries.

I actually got to test out the X41's last night and cannot believe how much it can change your gaming senses. They are intense and feature great sound quality as well as functionality. The X41s are a definate must and deliver very well for hardcore games as well as to the one who wants to stay a little more quiet in the evenings. If I had the extra 200 bucks, I would have brought home a pair last night. They are much nicer than the previous X4s.
Also the X41s Receiver is USB powered, and the headset is Battery Powered. I have seen this in person and can confirm this.

I have the X4's. The sound is awesome, and now I won't wake my wife. Haven't tried the X3, so I can't say if it's better, but I'm completely happy with what I got.
