I wouldn't call myself an expert, but I've always been a big fan. Jeanne 'd Arc was an absolute treat. I think it's my favorite PSP game.
I have found myself getting lost in Oblivion, Fallout 3, and am looking forward to Dragon Age: Origins now. Western RPG's are starting to win me over. Started when Neverwinter Nights came out and Knights of the Old Republic came out. Bioware and Bethesda have really become two of my favorites.
On a side note....is it just me or do the Polom and Porom clones need to stop? Seems every other damn JRPG has been throwing them in. Infinite Undiscovery is probably the worst of the offenders... At least March and Salsa in Eternal Sonata weren't bad, albiet sisters and not brother and sister, but in the same vein.
I feel the same way. WRPGS have been much better made in regards to story and gameplay this generation, although magna carta 2 and ff13 have me keeping faith jrpgs can be good this generaiton like eternal sonata and star ocean were.

i would agree with gameplay, but not story. not really.
i've been pretty selective with my 360 rpgs, but none of the stories have been that great.
lost od was probably the best, and that 'aint sayin' much.
