Is there any other really big fans/enthusiasts of jrpgs out there? If so, what do you think of the current state of jrpgs this generation?

Personally, I am VERY disapointed with jrpgs this generation.
Last Remnant, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, etc all were either terrible, just less then terrible, slow to a fault, or had some other glaring issue in terms of thier quality.

The only two that I have liked were eternal sonata (wonderful asthetics, nice hybrid of real time and turn based combat) and star ocean (im a SO fan, so the great combat system returned albeit with a less then epic story and some hot or miss voice acting)

Oh well. Still hope that MC2 (magna carta 2) and Resonance of Fate (?) do something.

Live and let game.

played the demo for blue dragon. hated it.
played the demo for eternal sonata. boring as hell.
enjoyed lost od, but by the time i completed it i had lost all interest.
does last remnant have a treasure trove achievement? i think that's why i won't play that one.

i dunno man... i'm just not into it like i used to be.
turn based, that is.
i could see myself running through chrono trigger, FF3 or FF7 again... but turn based turns my tummy.

lost od drove me nuts with that one lol.
i guess star ocean has it, and you get some way to find them easier, but still. me no likey.

i did actually enjoy enchanted arms. forgot about that one.

I agree with you almost 100% Impureking, most JRPG's on the 360 fucking blow, except for Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean, and Infinite Undiscovery. I also agree with Noah that they just don't make them like they used to, FFII and FFIII (snes) are fucking awesome. FFVII is in it's own league with how fucking great that is, same with Chrono Trigger. I hope that FFXIII is worth the wait, and the way it's looking I think it will be. The 360 needs some really mind blowing JRPG's and fast. Oh, and for the record Enchanted Arms (in my opinion) is the worst JRPG on the 360.

never beat FFII but yes, it was awesome. nothing like III though.
III was a beast. it rivals chrono trigger as best SNES game in my opinion.

now yall got me sitting here day dreaming about awesome classics lol.
anyone remember wild arms for the PS? i loved that game.

lol yeah I remember Wild Arms, there were a few of those not bad games. You remember Legend of Dragoon, fucking love that game. I've been playing all of those classics lately due to my 360 being fucked, so it's been heaven for me. And for the record FFII kicks FFIII ass, lol. That's right I said it.

I'm a huge RPG fan, but just can't do JRPG. With Blue Dragon and Star Ocean I couldn't get more than 1 hour into it before sending it back. Lost Odyssey I may have gotten half way through. The only one I finished was Enchanted Arm and that was only because it was the first of the bunch and I felt obligated to stick it out to the end.

Give me Oblivion or Two Worlds anytime over any of the JRPGs.

Just my opinion as it sounds like I should have stuck with Star Ocean a bit longer. It wasn't that it sucked, it just didn't suck me in and convince me it was worth playing.

I don't understand why people like Oblivion and Fallout 3, maybe I'm just too in love with the classics, but I can't see the appeal in them.

i'm still in love with the classics, and i'd still have my SNES to this day if it hadn't been stolen, but there's something about a huge, open-ended world that draws me in. especially with fallout 3. searching abandoned buildings and researching what happened around the time of the war and the aftermath is just epic.

oblivion was awesome, but i prefer morrowind, which is the ES game right before oblivion.
