Hey, don't worry man. My dad bought me a new Mini Cooper in early November. I'm seventeen and have only had my license for a little over a year and a half. If your family wants to buy you a new car, hell yeah! While inexperienced drivers are more likely to get into accidents, anyone can drive safely if they just pay attention and act responsibly.

Besides, I wonder if there is any relationship between the car a teenager drives and the number and severity of accidents they get in. It seems anyone in a car they appreciate would be more concerned with keeping it nice. I love my Mini Cooper, and preserving her is a major reason to drive safely.

my mom made a very similar statement when i first started driving, boobs.
well... maybe not that similar... i dunno LOL.
basically, at 14, i bought my own car, and so i cared for it more.
something like that.
either way, that was a long time ago.
my wife had "my" car long before i met her. so there you go.
still no wrecks.

i hit a tree drag racing my mustang back in '92. i was doing 120 when i went off the road and hit a tree, luckily not head on. it sucked, i had no insurance and had to get a second job to rebuild it. don't do that, learn from my mistakes.... :no:

still no wrecks though, thank god.
the fastest i recall going was 90 at age 17.

I have been driving since I was 14 as well, my dad taught me how to drive stick back then and I've never been in a wreck either, however I think Taco's point is quite valid.

I mean- there's a reason you have to have a permit first before a license... it's because when you first start driving, you aren't as good as someone who has been driving a while. There are things you learn with time and experience.
