THIS SUCKS but it is marketing and lets face it ... it is what it is. is smart if you think about it they will get there money and its a few points (hopefully its for the whole list and not per song)

In no way is Microsoft to blame, it's Harmonix's doing. While the the five dollar fee isn't going to wipe out anyone's bank account, I'm still a little saddened by the fact that the videogame market will nickle and dime me till I die with that controller in my hand, head, or whatever it is they use to control consoles with by then....

While it may suck, it certainly isn't marketing. It is the law. Harmonix signed a licensing agreement with all those artists for the original Rock Band only. For a mere 10% of the cost of that game, they are allowing us to move the majority of those song licenses to Rock Band 2.
As I mentioned above, they did not have to do this (see Guitar Hero Series) and think of the massive discount we are getting to have these songs made available to us. For 400 points/$5, we will be almost doubling the amount of base songs in Rock Band 2. Thats a hell of a deal if you ask me....
I can gurantee you at best, Harmonix is only breaking even on this deal, at worst, they are losing money....

Actually it really isn't Harmonix either nor the Video Game industry that is nickle and diming us in this instance. It is the Licensing agreements that are necessary per copyright laws...

Should we expect this to be the case for future rhythm-based games????

And by the way I did state in my blog that this was caused due to the licensing fees, I just didn't quite know who was responsible for the actual fee.....

Actually it's the music industry who's collecting on the deal as the money is to cover the licensing for RB2. It's a different game so they are collecting their due. If you read the MTV piece it almost sounds like Harmonix might be losing a little bit of money on the deal...

Why is everyone so upset. No one is being nickle and dimed. They are simply offering to give you the majority of rockband 1's setlist transferred to Rock Band 2 for a meager $5 bucks.
All of the DLC you purchased for RB1 will transfer as well.
Future DLC will work for either game.
I wish more companies would offer outrageous bargains for five bucks. As it stands now, my rockband2 will have 250ish songs and I can't wait.

what on EARTH would you do with a life sized action figure of yourself????
Scare people who came over to my house, or replace myself with the action figure in those awkward moments I get myself into....kind of like this one....

hahaha I'm the master of awkward moments! What you have to do is start to say something, but kind of trail off, and stare really hard off in the distance. Kind of make a face like you're weirded out by something, or you're constipated, whichever you can do better, and widen your eyes a little. Then, they're gonna look... and you RUN!
I use the old ninja smoke bomb a lot too. One second I'm there, bam, the next I'm not. Well that isn't completely true cause you can easily sidestep the smoke to see me running off in the distance.....It's funny to watch though
