Our country is not fucked up right now. The economy may have declined, but it is not even in a technical recession. In order to be a recession, the nation's GDP growth needs to be negative for two consecutive quarters. From what I've been able to find, we were up 1% in the first quarter of 2008.

Fortunately, we have a government system that is built with checks and balances to ensure no one has too much power. This includes the President. Bush is not the only man responsible for whatever has happened to the country in the past eight years. Congress is equally, if not more so, responsible.

It truly must be difficult to be President of the United States. No matter what happens, you get the credit and the flak. Bush shouldn't be blamed for entering Iraq in search of WMDs but not uncovering any. Our intelligence services are the one to blame. He obviously acted on intelligence that appeared credible but ended up false. I can only speculate, but I bet if I were in his same position then, I would've had a similar action.

I am not making any racial slur by saying this...I see obama getting elected as well...I don't like it, but it's going to happen more than likely....Something else I can see happening, is him getting assassinated by one of these white supremacist groups that wouldnt want to see a black mane in office...I said the same thing about hilary as well when she was running for president...no im not making a racial slur before someone goes and gets there panties in a wad...im only saying that I can see that happening.

i found out something a few weeks ago i just remember

bush went to war w/o asking congress. he ran into iraq, then backtracked (but kept the troops there) to ask congress..im not sure its totally true, but the place i heard it was pretty reliable on some issues (i dont remember it cause i havent gone on it in forever so dont ask) but if thas true then thats so retarted of him...

obama would prolly get killed if hes prez. but then again, he may not who knows. he could get killed, but then again, look at mccain. for all we know he could die in office (thats kind of me poking fun at his age, but it could happen) so either prez will prolly get killed/die in some way

sonny purdue can die. seriously. hes the governor of ga, and a possible VP for mccain. hes a pain in the but and its a total a'hat to the teachers of georgia. every year hes been in office (i think its been atleast 6 years, prolly more) hes been slowly decreasing their wages. and theyre the ones who educated him so he could become governor!!

i hope he loses the VP spot and governor in the next ga gov. election

I cannot believe I'm reading a political discussion on here.....

Anyways, I rarely talk about politics, so here's my thoughts on everything:

1) I think Microsoft is taking a great step in opening up the voting demographic by doing this for 360 users. Bash it all you want, but with voter turnout in the last seven presidential elections averaging a whopping 34% of the legal population and the age 18-29 bracket hitting a measly 22%, something has to be done. This is the first step in improving those numbers.

2) John McCain now is not the John McCain that I knew four years ago, who had very solid beliefs, but was seen as a loose cannon by his own political party. He knew he had to change some of his views if he was going to win the nomination, and he did just that. A lot of his views I simply do not see eye to eye on.

3) Barack Obama is a fresh face indeed. However, I'm not a huge fan of Joe Biden. He's kind of a nutjob who sometimes goes off on tangents about things that absolutely do not matter. I'll never forget him ranting about Janet Jackson and the wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl, saying that we were slipping into a moral sewer. However, Obama needed to pick an established name, and he was probably the best choice. I like what Obama has to offer, but neither candidate is a lock for the nomination. Personally, I will vote Obama/Biden, simply because I feel that we do need a change.

4) Z made a great point. Too many times, people are so quick to say "Well I'm not going to vote because neither candidate is good." Plain and simple, this is a terrible argument. If you're bitching about the potholes on your street, the taxes that are levied against you or to help you, or your school's budget (Case in point, the Hilliard, Ohio, area has a HUGE tax levy to vote for this year that will greatly affect budget cuts), then this is the time where you decide where the money needs to go. Also, to quote one of my favorite shows, South Park: "You're always going to be voting for either a Giant Douche or a Turd Sandwich" You just have to pick the lesser of two evils sometimes....or the one who you think won't screw up as much. I don't think that's the case this year, but it should put it into perspective.
