That has no validity.

Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution of 2002 was passed by Congress in October 2002. The attack didn't begin until March 2003.

That's correct. The United Nations condemned the actions of our Government because we petitioned to the world and they thought we were out of our minds, in a nutshell.

That's just not true.

The U.N. Security Council did not approve the use of force against Iraq, so the invasion was internationally illegal.

However, there were several other countries that approved the invasion of Iraq regardless of whether the U.N. approved it or not. Examples are Spain and Bulgaria. The fact that it was a multi-national force that invaded Iraq proves we did not stand alone.

From what I can find, 40 different countries have had forces active in the coalition at one time or another.

I just wanted to say that it is refreshing that this thread has gone over 2 pages without turning ugly at all! Kudos to all involved in this discussion! It's wonderful to know that a group of intelligent and opinionated people can have an online discussion of this type, and not rip in to anybody else's point of view! I just had to say it!

The U.N., save a few helpers in the name of Great Britain, Israel, and Turkey, generally frowned upon our actions. Now, later on AFTER the initial invasion, we were joined by many more countries once Hussein's regime had fallen.

As a whole, my opinion is this: It's a double edged sword. A tyrant was ousted and removed from power....but it sparked all the makings of a civil war. I work with several people who have served time over in Iraq, and the consensus is that we will never completely finish the job, simply because there are far too many individual "sects" that stand against the U.N.

EDIT: And damn you for dragging me into this damn discussion!

The only reason we aren't on your level is because we don't fully see everything to the extent of your point of veiw....which is cool....But it's no reason to stop participating
