Xbox and Rock the Vote to Give Voters a New Platform for Change
First-of-its-kind partnership creates new ways to register to vote and jump into 2008 election.
REDMOND, Wash. Aug. 20, 2008 A leading gaming and entertainment platform just became a leading platform for change. Microsoft Corp. and Rock the Vote today announced a groundbreaking partnership that will allow Xbox 360 owners to register to vote, participate in presidential polls and voice their opinions to the presidential candidates. It will all happen through Xbox LIVE starting Monday, Aug. 25, the first day of the Democratic National Convention.
Xbox is a natural partner to help us reach out to youth voters, said Heather Smith, executive director, Rock the Vote. To realize our goal of registering 2 million young Americans by this fall, we need to go where young Americans are, and theres no doubt in our minds that many are on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE.
This is the first time that Rock the Vote has joined forces with an entertainment partner such as Xbox to reach voters under 30. Xbox LIVE is the largest online social network connected to the television, with membership totaling 12 million if Xbox LIVE were a state, it would rank as the countrys seventh largest, giving it approximately 20 electoral votes.
The Xbox LIVE community is active, vocal and passionate, said Marc Whitten, general manager of Xbox LIVE. Were thrilled to partner with Rock the Vote to make it easier than ever for youth voters and our members to register and be heard.
Through the Rock the Vote partnership, Xbox LIVE members will be able to register to vote, voice their opinions to the candidates through an exclusive forum and participate in potentially election-predicting polls. They will also be able to download Rock the Vote public service announcements.
Xbox also will have a presence at both the Democratic and Republican conventions, promoting the Rock the Vote partnership and educating delegates about creating a safer entertainment environment on Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE using the built-in parental controls known as Family Settings. These industry-leading settings allow parents to limit their childrens access to video games and movies and manage their activity and communications on Xbox LIVE. Voting isn't always about the candidates for office. It is about levies to support your local schools, the zoo, MRDD, monies to improve your streets, issues such as statewide smoking bans, allowing casino gambling in state, etc, etc, etc.....
Too many times people get wrapped up in the Presidential election, when the other things are just as, if not more important....

McCain is a fine american patriot, and a respected member of the senate who has devoited his entire life to this country. To hear you call him just another old white dude makes me ill a say the least. At one time in my life I thought he would make a great president. I was hopeing he was going to run against clinton and pick colon Powell as a running mate. I would have been for that ticket at that point and time.
I'm not sure where to start with your thinking that Obama is Muslim or Middle Eastern. Oh brother, His mother is white and from Kansas, his father was Black and from Kenya. (Thats in africa by the way) As a small boy he attended a school that taught both christian and muslim teaching for a short time before coming to the U.S. He was raised by his mother and grand parents in a christian home.
I am not happy with how things are going in this country, and I don't see what I used to in McCain. I don't want 8 or even 4 more years of this same crap. Hearing what he has been saying about the Russians and all his tough talk I fear he'll do something stupid and start world war 3.
Obama on the other hand is a fresh face the sees what is wrong with washington and wants to fix it. A lot of the people that spread the slander about him are only worried about there wallets. The rich people is this country have done very well under Bush. Gas prices don't mean anything to them, only their Net worth. They don't worry about shit like Food, rent, or raising their kids. This thing with the housing market is directly to blam on the rich people having to much of everything they want their way. These same people are to blam for the whole energy price spikes. As housing and real estate started to fail they switched over to energy. The war in Iraq was a easy excuse to raise fears and with every little thing that was bad raise the price of Oil. These same people if left unchecked are posied to just keep on Raping us over and over again.
Things must change, things will change with Obama!!!
