I mean it was still cheesy as hell. But it was more "believable" if that makes any sense. I'm actually kinda stretching with the 4/5, I was gonna put 3.5/5
I guess I may have to watch it again, I watched both films back to back. So maybe I hated it more than I would have had I spread them apart more.
Besides the shitty acting and hundreds of movie mistakes in DotD, what really killed it was the whole Cloverfield thing. I hate shit like that.
Clerks - 5/5 (cant believe that was my first time watching it... that shit was gut busting funny.)

I've been waiting to see this movie ever since I learned it was in production and I read the book it was based on last year. Ray Stevenson stars as real life gangster Danny Greene and it chronicles his career in organized crime in Cleveland during the mid 70's. It features a stellar supporting cast with the likes of Christopher Walken, Vincent D'Onofrio, Val Kilmer, Vinnie Jones, Steve Schirripa and Paul Sorvino.
The fact that it's based on real events makes it that much better. In 1976, 37 mob related bombs were detonated in Cuyahoga County, 21 in Cleveland. Most of those were a result of the conflict Greene had with the Cosa Nostra. They tried and failed to kill him 8 times before they were finally able to finish the job. I'm just flabbergasted by the lack of PR this movie has got and that they only opened it in a select number of cities around St Paddy's Day. This is a new favorite for me and it ranks right up there with The Departed and Goodfellas in my book. It only lost half a point from me because they had to film it in Detroit for tax credit reasons.
I guess modern day Detroit did a pretty good job of passing for 1970's Cleveland.
Here's a link for a trailer if you're interested.
This came out on dvd this week. I highly recommend you add it to your netflix queues or rent it. My copy from amazon came today.
X-Men First Class- 10/10, there really wasn't anything I didn't like about the movie, thought it tied with Iron Man for the best comic book/superhero movie I've seen.
Solid sequel. Almost as good as the original. Almost.

I just got back from it as well. I'll give it an 8/10. Its a good movie, I don't really have any complaints about it it just felt like something was missing. I dunno, this is one of the few superheor movies where I actually read the comics before the movies or cartoons, i guess I was just a little dissapointed. The casual fan will love it though.

I just got back from watching it. I also agree like it was missing something. It was a damn good movie. Well written and humorous.
Michael Caine brilliantly plays an aging widower and former British Marine that dishes out some vigilante justice on the gang of drug dealers that murdered his only friend. A British release now on DVD.
I forgot how much I love this movie. It's by Darren Aronofsky, the guy who did Black Swan. Watch it loud in a dark room and have your mind blown.
